The d electron count is a chemistry formalism used to describe the electron configuration of the valence electrons of a transition metal center in a coordination complex. The d electron count is an effective way to understand the geometry and reactivity of transition metal complexes. The formalism has been incorporated into the two major models used to describe coordination complexes; crystal field theory and ligand field theory, which is a more advanced version based on molecular orbital theory. Standard electron configuration perspective The electron configuration for transition metals predicted by the simple Aufbau principle and Madelung's rule has serious conflicts with experimental observations for transition metal centers under most ambient conditions. The D mesons are the lightest particle containing charm quarks. They are often studied to gain knowledge on the weak interaction. The strange D mesons (Ds) were called "F mesons" prior to 1986. Overview The D mesons were discovered in 1976 by the Mark I detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Since the D mesons are the lightest mesons containing a single charm quark (or antiquark), they must change the charm (anti)quark into an (anti)quark of another type to decay. Such transitions involve a change of the internal charm quantum number, and can take place only via the weak interaction. In D mesons, the charm quark preferentially changes into a strange quark via an exchange of a W particle, therefore the D meson preferentially decays into kaons () and pions (). D0 Motorway (Czech Republic)
D0 motorway ( cs, Dálnice D0), formerly R1 expressway ( cs, Rychlostní silnice R1), or Prague Ring Road ( cs, Pražský okruh), also called the outer ring road, is a motorway in the Czech Republic. It is an outer ring of Prague and its first segment was opened in the 1980s. There is also an inner Prague Municipal Ring Road, which is still under construction as well. 40 km, from the planned length 80 km, are in operation. Two disjunct sections are opened to the public, one going all the way from the Ruzyně Airport to the interchange with the D1 highway, the other one being a road on the eastern border of Prague. A section connecting these two segments is to be built next. Other segments under preparation include a controversial bridge over the Vltava river near Suchdol, with locals proposing the road to be built in a less inhabited location to the north. Dangling Bond
In chemistry, a dangling bond is an unsatisfied valence on an immobilized atom. An atom with a dangling bond is also referred to as an immobilized free radical or an immobilized radical, a reference to its structural and chemical similarity to a free radical. When speaking of a dangling bond, one is generally referring to the state described above, containing one electron and thus leading to a neutrally charged atom. There are also dangling bond defects containing two or no electrons. These are negatively and positively charged respectively.
