Milan Šteindler
Milan Šteindler (born 12 April 1957) is a Czech actor, screenwriter, and film director. He is a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He won the Czech Lion Award for Best Director for his 1994 film, ''Thanks for Every New Morning''. He obtained the Silver St. George Award for Directing at the 19th Moscow International Film Festival for the same film. Together with David Vávra, he founded Sklep Theatre in Prague in 1971. Along with Petr Čtvrtníček and Vávra, Šteindler wrote and directed the satirical television series '' Czech Soda''. As an actor, he has appeared in over sixty films. The Czech Republic has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1994 (after the split of Czechoslovakia in January 1993). However, there were also Czech films submitted by Czechoslovakia before it ceased to exist in 1992. This is a list of submissions to the 68th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country.
