''Días de odio'', literally translated as Days of Hate, is a 1954 Argentine film. It is based on the short story ''Emma Zunz'' by Jorge Luis Borges. ''Días de odio '' was directed by Leopoldo Torre Nilsson and filmed in black and white. The script was adapted by Nilsson from the short story "Emma Zunz" by Jorge Luis Borges (first published in 1949). The film was released on 3 June 1954, starring Elisa Galvé, Nicolas Freguês, Raul del Valle, Enrique de Pedro, Duilio Marzio and Virginia Romay in the main roles. The producer of the film was Armando Bó. Synopsis Emma Zunz (played by Elisa Galve) is a young, lonely girl. One day she receives a letter communicating that her father, who had been imprisoned in Brazil, has committed suicide. Knowing that the businessman Plesner (played by Nicolás Fregues) is responsible for framing her father and ruining their family, Emma plans and executes her revenge. Armando Bó
Armando Bó (3 May 19148 October 1981) was an Argentine film actor, director, producer, screenwriter and score composer of the classic era. He is mostly known for his drama and sexploitation films of the 1960s and 1970s starring his favorite actress and romantic partner, sex symbol Isabel Sarli. His works include ''Thunder Among the Leaves'', which features the first nude scene in an Argentine film. Bó's son is the actor Víctor Bó and his grandson is the screenwriter Armando Bó. Leopoldo Torre Nilsson (5 May 1924 – 8 September 1978), also known as Leo Towers and as Babsy, was an Argentine film director, producer and screenwriter. Born as Leopoldo Torres Nilsson (he later changed his paternal surname from Torres to Torre) was the son of Argentine pioneer film director Leopoldo Torres Ríos, with whom he collaborated between 1939 and 1949. He debuted in 1947 with the short ''El muro''. His mother was an Argentinian citizen of Swedish descent. His uncle was cinematographer Carlos Torres Ríos (1898–1956). Elisa Christian Galvé (July 20, 1922 in Buenos Aires – October 20, 2000 in Rome) was an Argentine actress. She was best known for her roles in films in the 1940s and 1950s, during the Golden Age of Argentine cinema. Duilio Marzio
Duilio Marzio (November 27, 1923 - July 25, 2013) was a well-known Argentine cinema and theatre actor. Life and work Marzio was born Duilio Bruno Perruccio La Stella in Buenos Aires to Sicilian immigrants, in 1923. He enrolled at the University of Buenos Aires Law School, obtaining a '' juris doctor''. Shortly afterwards, however, his interest in the theatre lured him away from his post in a local law firm, and he first starred on the stage in 1949 opposite Paulina Singerman in Antonio Cunill Cabanellas' ''Fin de semana'' (''Weekend''). His friendship with actor Pepe Soriano helped persuade him to continue acting, against his father's wishes. "Emma Zunz" is a short story by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges. The tale recounts how its eponymous heroine avenges the death of her father. Originally published in September 1948 in the magazine ''Sur'', it was reprinted in Borges' 1949 collection '' The Aleph''. The story deals with the themes of justice and revenge, and of right and wrong. As in several other short stories, Borges illustrates the difficulty in understanding and describing reality.
