Duchesses (women's Cricket)
Duchesses, previously known as M van der Merwe XI, are a South African women's cricket team that competed in the Women's T20 Super League. The team has no geographical base, and was instead made up of some of the best players from across South Africa. Their best T20 Super League finish came in the first edition of the tournament, 2019, when they were runners-up. For the 2022–23 Women's T20 Super League, they were replaced by a South Africa Under-19 team in the competition. History Duchesses were first formed in 2019 to compete in the Women's T20 Super League, a tournament designed to provide more competitive cricket to the best players in South Africa. For the first edition of the tournament, the side was named after its coach, Martelize van der Merwe, becoming M van der Merwe XI. They were captained by Suné Luus. Women's T20 Super League
The Women's T20 Super League is a women's domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Cricket South Africa. The tournament began in September 2019, with four teams taking part; these teams were renamed for a second competition in December 2019. The third competition took place in December 2020, which was won by Coronations (women's cricket), Coronations. The competition took place again in December 2022, with no overall winner crowned due to the amount of matches abandoned due to rain. The 2019 Women's T20 Super League was the inaugural Women's T20 Super League competition that took place in South Africa. It took place in September 2019, with 4 teams taking part made up of the best players in South Africa. Devnarain XI won the competition by topping the round-robin group. 2022–23 Women's T20 Super League
The 2022–23 Women's T20 Super League was the fourth edition of the Women's T20 Super League competition, that took place in South Africa. It took place from 12 to 16 December 2022, with 4 teams competing: three composite teams of the best players in South Africa, and the South Africa Under-19 team for the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup. With five matches abandoned due to rain, no overall winner was declared for the competition. Starlights topped the group standings, winning all of their completed matches. Suné Luus
Suné Elbie Luus ( , ; born 5 January 1996) is a South African professional cricketer, who plays for the national cricket team as a leg spin bowling all-rounder. Early life and education Luus was born and raised in Pretoria. Even when she was a toddler, her father encouraged her to play cricket. "My dad was a mini cricket coach – I'm still a daddy's girl!" At the age of four, she started playing mini cricket with her father and older brother. Three years later, aged seven, Luus joined the Under-10 boys team of her primary school, Laerskool Voorpos. Lizelle Lee
Lizelle Lee (born 2 April 1992) is a South African cricketer who played for the South Africa women's national cricket team from 2013 to 2022. She has played for Western Storm and Surrey Stars in the Women's Cricket Super League, as well as Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash League. Lee is an opening batter. In January 2022, Lee was named the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year. In July 2022, Lee announced her retirement from international cricket. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Mignon du Preez (born 13 June 1989) is a South African cricketer, who was the women's team captain in all three forms of cricket, Test matches, ODIs and T20Is, from 2007 to 2018.
