Duchess of Palma de Mallorca ( ca, Ducat de Palma de Mallorca, es, Duquesa de Palma de Mallorca) was a substantive title granted by King of Spain, King Juan Carlos I of Spain on 26 September 1997 to his younger daughter, Infanta Cristina of Spain, on the occasion of her forthcoming marriage to Iñaki Urdangarin. On 11 June 2015, she was stripped of her dukedom by Felipe VI of Spain, King Felipe VI, her younger brother, due to Nóos case, a corruption inquiry, and the dukedom was merged again in the Monarchy of Spain, Spanish Crown. Iñaki Urdangarin Liebaert (born 15 January 1968) is a retired Spanish handball player turned entrepreneur and the husband of Infanta Cristina, younger daughter of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía. He was the brother-in-law of King Felipe VI. The Nóos case, also known as the Babel operation, is an ongoing case of alleged political corruption in Spain which started in 2010, derived from the Palma Arena case. The leaders of the nonprofit foundation Nóos Institute, Iñaki Urdangarin, then Duke of Palma de Mallorca, and his business partner Diego Torres have been accused of using Nóos and a corporate network of companies to embezzle about 6 million euros ($6.6 million) in public funds for sporting events, perverting the course of justice, falsification and money laundering.
