Dubai International Finance Centre
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is a special economic zone in Dubai covering , established in 2004 as a financial hub for companies operating throughout the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) markets. DIFC is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority, an independent regulator exclusive to the zone, and by its own court system, DIFC Courts, separate from the Emirate of Dubai's legal system and that of the federal government of the UAE. DIFC follows the common law framework and operates in English. The freezone houses financial institutions, and wealth funds in addition to retail and hotel space dedicated to the free zones. DIFC is one of Dubai's independent free-zones; it offers companies 100% ownership without the need for a local partner. Angus Glennie, Lord Glennie
Angus James Scott Glennie, Lord Glennie, (born 3 December 1950) was a Senator of the College of Justice, and Principal Commercial Judge in the Court of Session, in Scotland. Early life Glennie was educated at Sherborne School in Dorset, and at Trinity Hall, Cambridge (M.A. Hons.). He was called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1974. He was appointed a Bencher in 2007. Legal career Whilst at the English Bar, Glennie worked mainly in commercial and international arbitration before the Commercial Court and Court of Appeal. He took silk there in 1991, and the following year was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates. The Index (Dubai)
The Index is a tall, 80-storey skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Of the 80 floors, the first four floors are service floors, 5th–29th are to be offices and 31st–77th are residential use, 73rd and 75th floors are duplex penthouses and 77th to 80th floor are triplex penthouses. The tower is oriented exactly along the east–west axis so that the eastern and western concrete cores shelter the floors from the harsh, desert sun and the climatic effects of the area. The concrete cores shelter the building from the low angle, highly penetrating morning and evening sun leaving only the south facade exposed to the high angle, low penetrating midday sun. The south-facing facade utilizes extensive sun shades to lower solar gain. The Index is one of the first towers in the region to intelligently embrace its climatic surrounding environment within its fundamental design principles. Emirates Financial Towers is a 27 story twin-tower commercial development located in the Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai’s central financial district. The development, which was completed and handed over in June 2011, consists of office and retail units and the towers are connected on the 16th floor by a glass skybridge, designed as a food and beverage space. Emirates Financial Towers holds the Guinness World Record for the largest automated parking system in the world. Ivana Catherine Bacik (born 25 May 1968) is an Irish Labour Party politician who has been Leader of the Labour Party since 24 March 2022 and a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin Bay South constituency since winning a by-election on 9 July 2021. Peter Kelly (judge)
Peter Thomas Kelly (born 17 June 1950) is an Irish lawyer who held various judicial roles between 1996 and 2020. He began his career working in the civil service, before becoming a successful barrister. He was first appointed a Judge of the High Court in 1996, having an instrumental role in the establishment of the Commercial Court division of the court in 2004. He was one of the first judges appointed to a new Court of Appeal when it was established in 2014. He returned to the High Court in 2015 on becoming the President of the High Court, a role which he held until retiring in 2020. He was an ''ex officio'' member of the Supreme Court of Ireland while President of the High Court. Early career Kelly was born in Dublin in 1950 and attended O'Connell School.
