Duba, Saudi Arabia
Duba () is a city in the Tabuk Province of Saudi Arabia. The city is located on the northern Red Sea coast. Local citizens describe it as ''The Pearl of the Red Sea''. As of 2022, it had a population of 39,543. History The first reference to Duba, under this name, is from 1203. The Valley of Salma and Valley of Kafafah were already known many centuries before. The Egyptian scholar Ptolemy mentioned a trade route leading from Kafafah to Lihyan (today's Al-`Ula). The Syrian scholar and poet, Sheikh Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulsi, wrote about Duba in 1790, in his account of traveling to Mecca for the Hajj. Historically part of Madian; the city is mentioned in Muslim scriptures. According to the Quran, Prophet Moussa settled in Madian (the region starts from Jordan river and extends to the city of Duba). The settlement of Prophet Shuaib as it is called is said to be located near Maqna where an ancient well can still be seen. The well is said to be the one where Moussa fed the flock. ...

Nandi Bear
In east African folklore, the Nandi bear is a creature said to live in East Africa.Jacobs, Louis L. (2000). ''Quest for the African Dinosaurs: Ancient Roots of the Modern World''. Johns Hopkins University Press. p. 250. It takes its name from the Nandi people who live in western Kenya, in the area the Nandi Bear is reported from. It is also known as Chemosit, Kerit, Koddoelo, Ngoloko, or Duba (which derives from the Arabic words ''dubb'' or ''d.abʕ'' / ''d.abuʕ'' for 'bear' and 'hyena' respectively). The Samburu "Nkampit" appears also to be a version of this creature. Description Descriptions of the Nandi bear are of a ferocious, powerfully built carnivore with high front shoulders (over four feet tall) and a sloping back. Stories of the Nandi bear state that it is fierce, nocturnal, stands on its hind legs and can kill animals.

Garba Duba
Garba Duba (1942 – 17 May 2024) was a Nigerian Army Lieutenant general who was Governor of Bauchi State, Nigeria from July 1978 to October 1979 during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo, and Administrator of Sokoto State from January 1984 to August 1985 during the military regime of Major General Muhammadu Buhari. Early career Garba Duba was born in 1942. He was educated at Kontagora Primary School, Kaduna (1951–1954) and Provincial Secondary School, Bida, Niger State (1956–1962). Duba joined the Nigerian Army as a Cadet Officer, entering the Nigerian Military Training College on 10 December 1962. One of his school classmates and army colleagues was Ibrahim Babangida, who married Duba's cousin Maryam in September 1969. Ali Issa Ibrahim Duba (, 1933 – 21 June 2023), better known as Ali Douba, was a Syrian military officer who was the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate of Syria under Hafez al-Assad as well as his close adviser. Under Douba’s leadership, the Military Intelligence Directorate was the most important security agency in Syria, responsible for maintaining security within the army and safeguarding the regime. Early life Duba was born to a small landowning family from the Alawite tribe of Matawira, in the village of Qurfays in the Jableh District south of Latakia. He joined the Ba'ath Party in the early 1950s while studying at the Holy Land Secondary School in Latakia. Steevan Humberto Fortes dos Santos (born 17 September 1989), also known as "Duba", is a Cape Verdean footballer who played as a forward for Union Omaha of USL League One until his retirement after the 2024 season. Duba, Ukraine
Duba () is a village in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine, located in Kalush Raion. It is the centre of the Duba rural hromada. History The village of Duba was founded in 1535. Its residents participated in the 1648 Khmelnytsky Uprising. The Saint Nicholas Church of Duba, a wooden church, was first mentioned in 1685, and was also mentioned as part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lviv in 1708. Under the Soviet Union it was part of the Russian Orthodox Church, but it is today owned by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Demographics In 1939, Duba had a population of 1,470.
