All Souls College, Oxford
All Souls College (official name: College of the Souls of All the Faithful Departed) is a constituent college of the University of Oxford in England. Unique to All Souls, all of its members automatically become fellows (i.e., full members of the college's governing body). Francis Ysidro Edgeworth
Francis Ysidro Edgeworth (8 February 1845 – 13 February 1926) was an Anglo-Irish philosopher and political economist who made significant contributions to the methods of statistics during the 1880s. From 1891 onward, he was appointed the founding editor of ''The Economic Journal''. Vincent Crawford
Vincent P. Crawford (born 1950) is an American economist. He is a senior research fellow at the University of Oxford, following his tenure as Drummond Professor of Political Economy from 2010 to 2020. He is also research professor at the University of California, San Diego. Early life and education Crawford majored in economics at Princeton University, graduating ''Summa cum laude'' in 1972. He went on to further study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his PhD in Economics in 1976. His thesis was supervised by Franklin M. Fisher. Career Crawford began his academic career at the UCSD as assistant professor in 1976 and was promoted to full professor in 1985. Sir John Vickers
Sir John Vickers (born 7 July 1958) is a British economist and the Warden of All Souls College, Oxford. Education Vickers studied at Eastbourne Grammar School and Oriel College, Oxford. He graduated with a DPhil from the University of Oxford. Career After starting a profession in the oil industry, Vickers left and began teaching economics at Oxford University. Joseph Eugene Stiglitz (; born February 9, 1943) is an American New Keynesian economist, a public policy analyst, and a full professor at Columbia University. Robert (Robin) Charles Oliver Matthews (16 June 1927 – 19 June 2010) was an economist and chess problemist. Matthews was born in Edinburgh. John Hicks
Sir John Richards Hicks (8 April 1904 – 20 May 1989) was a British economist. He is considered one of the most important and influential economists of the twentieth century. The most familiar of his many contributions in the field of economics were his statement of consumer demand theory in microeconomics, and the IS–LM model (1937), which summarised a Keynesian view of macroeconomics. His book ''Value and Capital'' (1939) significantly extended general-equilibrium and value theory. The compensated demand function is named the Hicksian demand function in memory of him. Sir Hubert Douglas Henderson (20 October 1890 – 22 February 1952), was a British economist and Liberal Party politician. Background Henderson was born the son of John Henderson of Glasgow. David Hutchison Macgregor
David Hutchison MacGregor (1877, Monifieth, Angus, Scotland – 8 May 1953, Oxford, England) was a Scottish economist and Drummond Professor of Political Economy at the University of Oxford and Fellow of All Souls, Oxford, from 1921 to 1945. Early life He was born in Monifieth in Angus, the third child of the Rev Robert MacGregor (1841-1915) minister of the Free Church of Scotland, and his wife, Lillias Hannah Hutchison (1842-1920). MacGregor was educated at George Watson's College, Edinburgh and graduated with first class honours in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh in 1898. He then studied for a further degree in economics at Trinity College, Cambridge under Alfred Marshall; he gained a BA in 1901 and was elected President of the Cambridge Union the following year.
