''Dreams and all that stuff'' is the eighth album by guitarist Leo Kottke. It is the only completely instrumental album Kottke released on Capitol. It peaked at #45 on the Billboard Pop Albums charts, his highest position achieved on the Pop Albums charts. It was re-issued on CD by BGO Records (CD132) in 1992 and One Way Records (S21-18462) in 1996. Reception Writing for Allmusic, music critic Bruce Eder wrote of the album "The shifting moods make this album, appropriately enough, a rather dreamlike experience... AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". John Van Hamersveld
John Van Hamersveld (born September 1, 1941, Baltimore, Maryland, United States) is an American graphic artist and illustrator who designed record jackets for pop and psychedelic bands from the 1960s onward. Among the 300 albums are the covers of '' Magical Mystery Tour'' by the Beatles, '' Crown of Creation'' by Jefferson Airplane, '' Exile on Main Street'' by the Rolling Stones, and '' Hotter Than Hell'' by Kiss. His first major assignment, in 1963, was designing the poster for the surf film '' The Endless Summer'', after which he served as Capitol Records' head of design from 1965 to 1968. During that time, he worked on the artwork for albums by Capitol artists such as the Beatles and the Beach Boys. Billy Barber (musician)
Billy Barber is a keyboardist and composer. He is the son of pianist William C. Barber, also known as Bill Barber Sr. He is most noted for the theme song for ''All My Children'' in the 1990s as well as keyboardist for the jazz group Flim & the BB's (with Jimmy Johnson, Bill Berg, and Dick Oatts). His song "Little Things" has been covered by The Oak Ridge Boys along with "Love is Worth the Pain" which was covered by Ray Charles. Billy Peterson
Billy Peterson (born as Willard Peterson, in Minnesota) is an American bass player, songwriter, composer, session musician and producer. Growing up in a family of professional musicians, Peterson started with music at a very young age. Billy is brother of Paul Peterson (bass guitarist/singer/songwriter/keyboardist) and Ricky Peterson (keyboardist/singer/song writer/producer). Career Early career In 1967, he joined The Righteous Brothers on a summer tour. While going to school, Peterson played bass and drums in local orchestras, big bands, R&B bands and toured with the Lawrence Welk Show All Stars. Ken Lauber
Ken Lauber (born May 14, 1941) is an American composer, arranger producer, musician, singer and playwright. Early career Lauber was born in New York City in 1941 and raised on Long Island. His first music lessons of note were drum lessons at the age of thirteen with the legendary drummers Gene Krupa and Cozy Cole. He continued his studies when he entered The Juilliard School of Music in the extension division when he was still in junior and senior high school studying percussion with Morris Goldenberg and Saul Goodman. Between 1960 and 1962 he attended two semesters at Ithaca College to further his percussion studies with Warren Benson. He then returned to The Juilliard School to study music composition with the composer Vincent Persichetti, piano with Rosina Lhévinne and conducting with Jean Morel. Norman Gimbel (November 16, 1927 – December 19, 2018) was an American lyricist of popular songs, television and movie themes. He wrote the lyrics for songs including "Killing Me Softly with His Song", " Ready to Take a Chance Again" (both with composer Charles Fox) and "Canadian Sunset". He also wrote English-language lyrics for many international hits, including " Sway", " Summer Samba", "The Girl from Ipanema", " How Insensitive", " Drinking-Water", "Meditation", "I Will Wait for You" and "Watch What Happens". America The Beautiful
"America the Beautiful" is a patriotic American song. Its lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and its music was composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel A. Ward at Grace Episcopal Church in Newark, New Jersey. The two never met. Bates wrote the words as a poem originally entitled "Pikes Peak". It was first published in the Fourth of July 1895 edition of the church periodical, ''The Congregationalist''. It was at that time that the poem was first entitled "America". Ward had initially composed the song's melody in 1882 to accompany lyrics to "Materna", basis of the hymn, " O Mother dear, Jerusalem", though the hymn was not first published until 1892. The combination of Ward's melody and Bates's poem was first entitled "America the Beautiful" in 1910. The song is one of the most popular of the many U.S. patriotic songs. San Antonio Rose
"San Antonio Rose" is a swing instrumental introduced in late 1938 by Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. Quickly becoming the band's most popular number, Wills and band members devised lyrics, which were recorded on April 16, 1940, and released on Okeh 5694 in August as "New San Antonio Rose". Despite having completed a lengthy Hillbilly/Folk chart run in 1939, which culminated at #1, it quickly rose to the top again, in early 1941. It went on to become the band's theme song for the next forty years, reverting to its original title. The song is written in the first person with the "Rose of San Antone" being the singer's lost love. In 2010, the Western Writers of America ranked it at number 49 on its list of the Top 100 Western songs of all time.
