Dreams (The Whitest Boy Alive Album)
''Dreams'' is the debut album by German-Norwegian indie pop band the Whitest Boy Alive. In 2006, it was released on Service Records as well as Asound/Bubbles. Early pressings of the album, such as the Norway release by the label Smalltown Supersound, carry a different track sequencing to later pressings which have since become the standard for reprints. The band's frontman, Erlend Øye, was performing an electronic arrangement of the track "Don't Give Up" with the duo Röyksopp Röyksopp (), a Norwegian electronic music duo from Tromsø formed in 1998. The Whitest Boy Alive is a German-Norwegian musical group based in Berlin. It was originally active from 2003 to 2014; after a five-year hiatus, the group reformed in 2019. The band is composed of singer and guitarist Erlend Øye of Kings of Convenience, bassist Marcin Öz, drummer Sebastian Maschat, and Daniel Nentwig on Rhodes piano and Crumar. History The Whitest Boy Alive started as an electronic dance music project in 2003 in Berlin, but since slowly developed into a band with no programmed elements. The name of the band comes from the idea of a naïve, shy northern European boy that their music is about. The band's German record label was Bubbles. Their debut album ''Dreams'' was released on 21 June 2006 in Germany. In July 2007, Modular Records signed them to their UK imprint and the band played their first UK performance with New Young Pony Club at the London Astoria in September 2007. Dream pop (also typeset as dreampop) is a subgenre of alternative rock and neo-psychedelia that emphasizes atmosphere and sonic texture as much as pop melody. Service was an independent record label formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in December 2001 by Ola Borgström together with Dan Lissvik. In 2012 Borgström announced that the label would stop issuing new material. Sveriges Radio. 12 november 2012. ''Rules'' is the second and final album by indie pop band The Whitest Boy Alive. It was recorded in Punta Burros Nayarit, Mexico, where the band was staying to rest after a long tour. In early 2009, Australian radio station Triple J named Rules their feature album of the week. The track "1517" was featured in ''FIFA 10'', the video game by EA Sports EA Sports is a division of Electronic Arts that develops and publishes sports video games. Formerly a marketing gimmick of Electronic Arts, in which they tried to imitate real-life sports networks by calling themselves the "EA Sports Network .... Erlend Øye
Erlend Øye (born 21 November 1975) is a Norwegian composer, musician, producer, singer and songwriter from Bergen, best known for being one half of the indie folk duo Kings of Convenience, along with Eirik Glambek Bøe. Among other musical projects he is front-man for the band The Whitest Boy Alive, and has contributed to tracks by electronic music artists such as Dntel and Norwegian duo Röyksopp. He is also the co-founder of the independent label Bubbles Records. Since 2012 he has lived in Sicily and played extensively with trio La Comitiva. In addition to his native Norwegian, he also speaks English and some Italian.
