Dragons (women's Cricket)
Dragons are an Irish women's cricket team that compete in the Women's Super Series. They first competed in the Super Series from its inception in 2015 until 2019, after which the tournament was reduced to two teams during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Dragons missing out. In 2022 the team returned to the Super Series and, after initially having no geographical base, would return with a "Northern Irish focus". They have won three Super Series titles: in 2016, 2018 and 2019. History Dragons were established in 2015 to compete in the Women's Super 3s, a tournament designed to bridge the gap between club cricket and international cricket in Ireland. The team was made up of some of the best players in Irish cricket, and were captained by Mary Waldron and coached by Rob O'Connor. Leah Paul
Leah Paul (born 10 September 1999) is an Irish cricketer. She made her Women's One Day International cricket (WODI) debut against India in the 2017 South Africa Quadrangular Series on 7 May 2017. In November 2018, she was named the Female Youth International Player of the Year at the annual Cricket Ireland Awards. She plays in the Women's Super Series for Dragons. In May 2019, she was named in Ireland's Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) squad for their series against the West Indies, but she did not play. In August 2019, she was named in the Irish Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) squad for the 2019 Netherlands Women's Quadrangular Series. Orla Patricia Prendergast (born 1 June 2002) is an Irish cricketer who plays for Dragons and Ireland. In August 2019, she was named in the Irish Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) squad for the 2019 Netherlands Women's Quadrangular Series. Alana Dalzell (born 26 March 2001) is a Northern Irish cricketer who plays as a right-handed batter and right-arm medium bowler. She was named in Ireland's squad for their series against South Africa in June 2022, and made her Women's One Day International (WODI) debut, against South Africa, on 14 June. She became the first player from the North West of Ireland to play a WODI since Julie Logue in 1996. Left-arm orthodox spin, Left-arm off spin also known as slow left-arm orthodox spin bowling, is a type of Finger spin, left-arm finger spin bowling (cricket), bowling in the sport of cricket. Arlene Kelly (cricketer)
Arlene Nora Kelly (born 8 January 1994) is an Irish cricketer who plays for Dragons and Ireland. She has previously played for Auckland and Kent. She made her international debut for Ireland in June 2022. Career Kelly was born in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1994. Her father was also born in New Zealand, but both of his parents were born in Ireland, and her mother was also born in Ireland, with Kelly holding an Irish passport. Kelly played for the Auckland Hearts in domestic tournaments in New Zealand between 2012–13 and 2022–23. In December 2018, she earned her 50th cap for the club. Fast bowling (also referred to as pace bowling) is one of two main approaches to bowling in the sport of cricket, the other being spin bowling. Off spin is a type of finger spin bowling in cricket. A bowler who uses this technique is called an off spinner. Off spinners are right arm, right-handed spin bowling, spin bowlers who use their fingers to spin the ball.
