Dragons' Den (Irish TV Series)
''Dragons' Den'' is an Irish television series, presented by Richard Curran, based on the worldwide series ''Dragons' Den''. It first aired in February 2009 and is currently in its eighth series. History The first episode was broadcast on 19 February 2009. The third season aired on RTÉ One with Norah Casey as the new Dragon. Toward the end of the season, episodes showed the Dragons on tour visiting their past investments. For the fourth season, Seán O'Sullivan, co-founder of Kinsale-based Avego Ltd, replaced Seán Gallagher. A live, interactive ''Sixth Dragon Game'' was developed to be played whilst watching the show, in which viewers are able to decide if they're "in" or "out" as the pitches unfold. The ''Sixth Dragon Game'' is the first live interactive game for an Irish TV show. The eighth series of ''Dragons Den'' included three female Dragons for the first time. Seán Gallagher
Seán Gallagher (born 7 July 1962) is an Irish businessman and former reality television personality. He was a co-founder in 2000 of Smarthomes, which after initial success, failed in 2008–2010, and Gallagher departed in 2010–11. He was a panellist on RTÉ's ''Dragons' Den'' from 2009 to 2011. Gallagher was an active member of Fianna Fáil for 30 years, from 1981 to 2011, and sat on its National Executive twice (from 1985 to 1987, and from 2009 to 2011). He spent much of his career before Smarthomes working in Fianna Fáil, and in the Irish public service. Gallagher ran as an independent candidate in the 2011 presidential election, finishing second to Michael D. Higgins. He ran again in the 2018 presidential election, finishing third. 2018 Irish Presidential Election
The 2018 Irish presidential election took place on Friday, 26 October, between 7.00 a.m. and 10.00 p.m. President Michael D. Higgins, who was elected in 2011, was seeking re-election. This was the first time since the 1966 election that an incumbent president faced a contest for a second term. Higgins was re-elected on the first count with nearly 56% of the vote, becoming the first president since Éamon de Valera to win a second term in a contested election (Patrick Hillery (1983) and Mary McAleese (2004) had been re-elected unopposed). He was inaugurated for his second term on 11 November. The election was held on the same date as a referendum on blasphemy. 2011 Irish Presidential Election
The 2011 Irish presidential election was the thirteenth presidential election to be held in Ireland, and was contested by a record seven candidates. It was held on Thursday, 27 October 2011. The election was held to elect a successor to Mary McAleese, with the winner to be inaugurated as the ninth President of Ireland on 11 November 2011. Two constitutional referendums and a by-election for a vacant Dáil seat in the Dublin West constituency took place on the same day. The seven candidates were Mary Davis, Seán Gallagher, Michael D. Higgins, Martin McGuinness, Gay Mitchell, David Norris and Dana Rosemary Scallon. Sean O'Sullivan is an entrepreneur, inventor and investor, born in New York City and currently living in Princeton, New Jersey. Bobby Kerr is an Irish entrepreneur and businessman. He was the chairman of Insomnia Coffee Company. In 2009, he was a "dragon" on the Irish version of ''Dragons' Den'', produced by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). Gavin Duffy (born Liam Duffy; 29 April 1960) Kildare, Ireland is an Irish entrepreneur and businessman who was a former part owner of the HRM Group of Companies, one of Ireland's largest recruitment companies.
