Double X (feminist Art Collective)
Double X was an artist collective active from 1975 to 1985. Their aim was to expand the visibility of art made by women. Exhibitions held by Double X displayed work by their members and other established/emerging women artists. One can find many perspectives which are now considered to be the foundation of the feminist art movement within Double X's founding statement. ''“We are committed to expanding the notion of what is considered art . . . .We recognize a pluralistic art that is both stylistically diverse and expressive of a variety of points of view in a framework such that although different modes may conflict with one another, they do not negate one another.''” Double X has been left out of many history books, but many consider their legacy is 'incontournable'. Doctor Double X (originally called Doctor X and Double X) is a supervillain appearing in comics published by DC Comics. He has fought Batman several times in Gotham City. Publication history Doctor Double X first appeared in ''Detective Comics'' #261 (November 1958), in a story titled "The Amazing Dr. Double X" by Bob Kane, writer Dave Wood and artist Sheldon Moldoff. Fictional character biography Dr. Simon Ecks is a scientist who discovered that human auras could be enhanced to function outside of the body. When Ecks created an energy-duplicate of himself, the introverted scientist's unstable mind became dominated by the doppelgänger he named Double X. He fought with Batman and Robin. The resulting battle causes Ecks to lose his memory of the experience. He is remanded to Arkham Asylum. Alexander Kowalski (musician)
Alexander Kowalski (born 1978 in Greifswald) is a German techno music artist. Career Kowalski moved to Berlin in the early 1990s, and became exposed to techno music there. Early influences on his work were Joey Beltram and Synewave, though he was limited to using cheap instruments to emulate them. He performed his first live gig at the Tresor Club in Berlin, and soon thereafter got in contact with Pacou and Sender Berlin, eventually releasing his first track on Proton Records in 1999. That same year, Kowalski and collaborator Stassy from Sender Berlin debuted as the techno team Double. Kowalski released his debut record ''Echoes'' in 2001, on the Kanzleramt label. He quickly produced a follow-up, ''Progress'' (early 2002). A year and a half after his second album, he released ''Response'', including the single "Belo Horizonte". James Emory Foxx (October 22, 1907 – July 21, 1967), nicknamed "Double X" and "The Beast", was an American professional baseball first baseman who played 20 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies. A tremendous power hitter, Foxx retired with the second most home runs, behind only Babe Ruth, and fifth-most runs batted in (RBI). His greatest seasons were with the Philadelphia Athletics and the Boston Red Sox where he hit a then-record 30 or more home runs in 12 consecutive seasons and drove in more than 100 runs in 13 consecutive years. Double X Posse, also known as Double XX Posse, was an American 1990s hip hop group from Jersey City, New Jersey. Their debut album ''Put Ya Boots On'' (1992), spawned two successful singles. The first and most successful, titled "Not Gonna be Able to Do It," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles in 1992 and also reached No. 68 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart in 1993.
