Dortmund University Station
Dortmund University station (german: Haltepunkt Dortmund Universität) is an underground S-Bahn station on the line between Dortmund and Bochum in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station was opened on 24 September 1983 by Deutsche Bundesbahn on a new line (line 2190) built between Bochum-Langendreer and Dortmund-Dorstfeld. Like other stations on this line, it is served only by passenger trains. The station has side platforms on the two track, which are both 218 m long and 96 cm high and therefore allow a level access to the trains running there. There are no other rail facilities. The station is located directly beneath the campus of the University of Dortmund. The code for the operating point is EDUV (E = former railway division of Essen, D = Dortmund, UV = University). Dortmund Hauptbahnhof
Dortmund Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The station's origins lie in a joint station of the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn and Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn which was built north of the city centre in 1847. That station was replaced by a new station, erected in 1910 at the current site. It featured raised embankments to allow a better flow of traffic. At the time of its opening, it was one of the largest stations in Germany. It was, however, destroyed in an Allied air raid on 6 October 1944. The main station hall was rebuilt in the year 1952 in a contemporary style. Its stained glass windows feature then-common professions of Dortmund. H-Bahn
The H-Bahn (abbreviation for , German for 'hanging railway') in Dortmund and Düsseldorf (there known as "Sky train") is a driverless passenger suspension railway system. The system was developed by Siemens, who call the project SIPEM (SIemens PEople Mover). Two installations exist, one at the Dortmund university campus, the other at the Düsseldorf Airport. While Siemens is no longer actively marketing the system, and will no longer carry out turnkey projects, new installations are still possible in collaboration with the Dortmund operating company. Since 2011 ''Air Train International'' has been marketing the system in China and as of May 2013 there are proposals to build lines in Shanghai and Wenzhou. Essen Hauptbahnhof (German for "Essen main station") is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany. It is situated south of the old town centre, next to the A 40 motorway. It was opened in 1862 by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn. However, the station was not the first in Essen: as the station called ''Essen'' (today Essen-Altenessen) on the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn was opened in 1847. Solingen Hauptbahnhof is the only railway station in Solingen, Germany, to be served by ICE and IC long distance trains. Solingen-Mitte station serves central Solingen, but only has Regionalbahn trains. History The first station in the area of present-day town of Solingen was built with the opening of the Gruiten-Cologne-Mülheim railway by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company. The station opened on 25 September 1867 and was named ''Ohligs Wald'' ("Ohligs forest"). That same year a branch line to Solingen was built from this station. S1 (Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn)
Line S1 is a S-Bahn line on the Rhine-Ruhr network. It is operated by DB Regio. It runs from Dortmund via Bochum and Essen to Duisburg. From there it travels south to Düsseldorf and Hilden before continuing to Solingen. It is operated on weekdays at 15-minute intervals between Dortmund Hbf and Essen Hbf, at 20-minute intervals between Düsseldorf Hbf and Solingen and at 30-minute intervals between Düsseldorf and Essen, using coupled sets of class 422 four-car electrical multiple units.
