Dora Beedham (née Spong; 3 June 1879 – 1969) was a British nurse from the social activist Spong Family and suffragette who joined the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1908 and was imprisoned and Force-feeding, force-fed. Dora Mavor Moore, (April 8, 1888–May 15, 1979) was a Canadian actress, teacher and director who was a pioneer of Canadian theatre. Life and work Born Dora Mavor in Glasgow, Scotland, she moved with her family to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1894, when her father, James Mavor (1854-1925), became a professor of political economy at the University of Toronto. She was the first Canadian student ever to be accepted at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 1912. In 1915, she married Francis Moore, an Army chaplain. Henriette Theodora Markovitch (22 November 1907 – 16 July 1997), known as Dora Maar, was a French photographer, painter, and poet. Dora Lewis (October 13, 1862 – January 31, 1928), also known as Mrs. Lawrence Lewis, was an American suffragist. She was active in the National American Woman Suffrage Association and later helped found the National Woman's Party. Lewis took part in the Silent Sentinels protest to advocate for women's suffrage. Involvement with the National Woman's Party In 1913 Dora Lewis became a very early executive member of the National Woman's Party (NWP). She was a very active member of the NWP and she was arrested numerous times for her advocacy in support of suffrage. Dora Herbert Jones ( Rowlands; 26 August 1890 – 9 January 1974) was a Welsh administrator and singer. She began singing while in school and continued doing so while studying at the University College of Wales. Jones was Herbert Lewis' secretary and organised his election campaign in the 1918 general election. She also worked for Viscount Wimborne in Ireland and then at the National Library of Wales. From 1927 to 1942, Jones worked at Gregynog Press and organised the four-day Gregynog Music Festival from 1933 to 1938. She was vice-president and later president of the Welsh Folk Song Society and performed and interpreted folk songs on radio and television. Dora Greenwell (6 December 1821 – 29 March 1882) was an English poet. The name "Dora Greenwell" was for many years supposed to be the pseudonym of a writer of rare spiritual insight and fine poetic genius. It was very generally surmised that she was a member of the Society of Friends; and there was much ground for this supposition. As time wore on, and book followed book, some of the facts of her personal history became known and were occasionally referred to in the public press. But for a very long period little was really known of her actual life, and many mistakes gained currency. Her poem, "I Am Not Skilled to Understand" was set to music by William J. Kirkpatrick.
