Donald Thomas (American Football)
Donald Grant Thomas (born September 25, 1985) is an American football guard who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Connecticut. Thomas has also played for the Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, and Indianapolis Colts. Early years Thomas, as a freshman, played two games with neighboring town West Haven High School JV team because Career Magnet High School does not have a football team. The New Haven Public School addressed Thomas's athletic eligibility and since Career had other varsity sports, they declared Thomas could not play for West Haven High School. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Logan Lee Mankins (born March 10, 1982) is a former American football guard who played eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL), primarily with the New England Patriots. After playing college football at Fresno State, he was drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent his final two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A fullback (FB) is a position in the offensive backfield in gridiron football, and is one of the two running back positions along with the halfback. Fullbacks are typically larger than halfbacks and in most offensive schemes the fullback's duties are split among power running, pass catching, and blocking for both the quarterback and the other running back.
