Donald's Ostrich
''Donald's Ostrich'' is an animated short film produced in Technicolor by Walt Disney Productions and released to theaters on December 10, 1937, by RKO Radio Pictures. It was the first film in the '' Donald Duck'' series of short films, although billed at the time as a '' Mickey Mouse'' cartoon. It was the first of the series to be released by RKO. ''Donald's Ostrich'' was directed by Jack King and features the voices of Clarence Nash as Donald Duck, Pinto Colvig as Hortense the Ostrich, and Elvia Allman and Billy Bletcher as radio voices. Plot Donald is working along as a custodian at a whistle stop train station and is responsible for loading and unloading luggage. James Patton "Jack" King (November 4, 1895 – October 4, 1958)Lenburg (2006), pp. 179-180 was an American animator and short film director best known for his work at Walt Disney Productions. Career According to Jeff Lenburg's assessment of him, King was an early pioneer of animation. His films were nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. RKO Radio Pictures Inc., commonly known as RKO Pictures or simply RKO, was an American film production and distribution company, one of the "Big Five" film studios of Hollywood's Golden Age. The business was formed after the Keith-Albee-Orpheum (KAO) theater chain and Joseph P. Kennedy's Film Booking Offices of America (FBO) studio were brought together under the control of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in October 1928. Adriana Elena Loreta Caselotti (May 6, 1916 – January 18, 1997) was an American actress and singer. Fred "Snowflake" Toones (January 5, 1906 – February 13, 1962) was an American actor and comedian. He appeared in over 200 films in his career spanning 23 years. Concertina
A concertina is a free-reed musical instrument, like the various accordions and the harmonica. In public transport, a request stop, flag stop, or whistle stop is a stop or station at which buses or trains, respectively, stop only on request; that is, only if there are passengers or freight to be picked up or dropped off.
