Don Jones (Ohio Politician)
Donald Jones (born June 5, 1973) is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 95th district since January 2019. Jones's district includes all of Carroll, Harrison, and Noble counties and portions of Belmont and Washington counties. Prior to elected office, Jones served as an agricultural education teacher at Harrison Central High School. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Former State Representative Andy Thompson's term expired at the end of 2018. Thompson had served 8 years in the Ohio House and was term limited per the Ohio Constitution causing an open seat in the 95th district. Unopposed in the Republican primary, Jones went on to win the seat with more than 65% of the vote. He was sworn into office for the first time on January 6, 2019. Andy Thompson (Ohio Politician)
Andrew Miller Thompson (February 8, 1963 – May 13, 2020) was an American politician who was a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 95th district, which includes Carroll, Harrison and Noble counties, and portions of Washington and Belmont counties. Prior to 2012 redistricting, he represented the 93rd district for one term. He served three terms on Marietta City Council (2005–2011) and was a co-publisher of his family's magazine, ''Bird Watcher's Digest''. Early life Thompson was born in Pella, Iowa on February 8, 1963. He moved to Marietta, Ohio in 1971 and graduated from Marietta High School in 1981. He graduated from Central College at Pella, Iowa in 1985, and spent four years working for the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a libertarian think tank. Cadiz ( ) is a village in Cadiz Township, Harrison County, Ohio, United States located about 20 miles from Steubenville. The population was 3,353 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Harrison County. History Cadiz was founded in 1803 at the junction of westward roads from Pittsburgh and Washington, Pennsylvania, and named after Cádiz, Spain. The town became the county seat of newly formed Harrison County in 1813. By 1840, Cadiz had 1,028 residents; by 1846, the town had four churches and 21 stores. The Steubenville and Indiana Railroad, a predecessor of the Pennsylvania Railroad, opened to Cadiz June 11, 1854. The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Harrison County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,483, making it the fifth-least populous county in Ohio. Its county seat is Cadiz. The county is named for General William Henry Harrison, who was later President of the United States. History Harrison County was formed from parts of Jefferson and Tuscarawas Counties in 1813. Noble County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,115, making it the fourth-least populous county in Ohio. Its county seat is Caldwell. The county is named for Rep. Warren P. Noble of the Ohio House of Representatives, who was an early settler there.
