Don't Go Against The Grain
''Don't Go Against the Grain'' is the only studio album by American hip hop group GP Wu. It was released on January 27, 1998 through MCA Records. Background One of many affiliates of the Wu-Tang Clan, GP Wu consisted of Pop da Brown Hornet (cousin of Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah), June Luva, Down Low Recka and Rubbabandz. The group had officially come together on Shyheim's 1996 album ''The Lost Generation''. The group then signed with MCA Records and began work on ''Don't Go Against the Grain''. "Black on Black Crime" and "1st Things First" were both released as singles and had music videos released, however neither made it to the ''Billboard'' charts. Production for album was mostly handled by group member Down Low Recka, with additional production done by group member June Luva, RNS and Visible. GP Wu
GP Wu (short for Gladiator Posse) was an American hip hop group consisting of four members, Pop Da Brown Hornet, Down Low Recka, Rubbabandz and June Luva. The group formed in 1993 and were one of the many affiliates of The Wu-Tang Clan. All four members appeared on fellow Wu-Tang affiliate Shyheim's first two albums 1994's ''AKA the Rugged Child'' and 1996's ''The Lost Generation'', with their first official appearance as a group being on the track entitled "5 Elements" from the latter. The group released their first and only album ''Don't Go Against the Grain'' in 1998 through MCA Records. Ghostface Killah
Dennis Coles (born May 9, 1970), better known by his stage name Ghostface Killah, is an American rapper and a member of the hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. After the group achieved breakthrough success in the aftermath of ''Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)'', the members went on to pursue solo careers to varying levels of success. Ghostface Killah debuted his solo career with '' Ironman'', which was well received by music critics, in 1996. He has enjoyed continued success in the years that have followed, releasing critically acclaimed albums such as ''Supreme Clientele'' (2000) and ''Fishscale'' (2006). Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. ''The Lost Generation'' is the second studio album by American rapper Shyheim. It was released on May 28, 1996 via Noo Trybe Records. Hip hop production, Production was handled by RNS, DR Period, The Family Stand, Peter Lord, The King of Chill, The Family Stand, V. Jeffrey Smith, L.E.S. (record producer), L.E.S., RZA and Tone Capone. It features guest appearances from GP Wu, 9th Prince, DV Alias Khrist, Killa Sin, Smoothe da Hustler, Trigga tha Gambler, Squig, Kameelah Williams and 702 (group), Lamisha Grinstead. Shyheim Dionel Franklin (born November 14, 1977) is an American rapper from New York better known simply as Shyheim. He initially gained fame as a teenager, releasing his debut album ''AKA the Rugged Child'' at the age of 16 in 1994. He has spent the majority of his career affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan, frequently collaborating with Method Man and Ghostface Killah. As a teenager, Shyheim was considered one of hip hop's brightest prospects, being referred to as a "Wunderkind" and a "prodigy", even being admired by fellow rappers such as Jay-Z, who said he "looked up to him" in admiration in his autobiography ''Decoded (memoir), Decoded''.
