''Don't Be a Dick'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Emily's Army, released on June 14, 2011, through Rise Records and Adeline Records. The album was produced by drummer Joey Armstrong's father, Billie Joe Armstrong, and long time Green Day engineer Chris Dugan. Background Emily's Army released two singles and the demo in 2009 and 2010 and by the time they had played their first shows they started writing for their first studio album. The band started recording over Christmas 2010 and finished in March 2011. This is the band's first release on Rise Records. This is the first album produced by Billie Joe Armstrong. SWMRS
SWMRS (formerly Emily's Army), pronounced 'swimmers', are an American punk rock band formed in Piedmont, California in 2004 by Cole Becker and Joey Armstrong, with Becker's brother Max Becker joining only a few weeks afterwards. They drew on a mix of influences ranging from the Beach Boys to the Ramones to create their own brand of rock. The band added Travis Neumann in 2009, who later left in 2014 due to creative differences. The band released a demo and a string of EPs from 2008 to 2010. The band released their first album, ''Don't Be a Dick'', on June 14, 2011. The band's second album, ''Lost at Seventeen'', was released on June 11, 2013. They added Sebastian Mueller as the bassist in 2014. Adeline Records
Adeline Records was an American record label that was formed in Oakland, California in late 1997 and closed in August 2017. History In 1997, Adeline Records was founded by Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer of Green Day, Screw 32's Doug Sangalang, Green Day guitarist Jason White, and professional skateboarder Jim Thiebaud. It was named after a street (Adeline Street) that runs from The Port of Oakland through West Oakland and Emeryville, terminating at Ward St and Shattuck Ave in Berkeley. Green Day's management company, Pat Magnarella Management, took over ownership of the label and ran it from the company's office in San Diego for many years. The label was closed in 2017. In July 2017, Pat Magnarella split from Green Day having managed them for over 21 years. Shortly thereafter Adeline Records abruptly closed down. Billie Joe Armstrong
Billie Joe Armstrong (born February 17, 1972) is an American musician who is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Green Day, which he co-founded with Mike Dirnt in 1987. He is also a guitarist and vocalist for the punk rock band Pinhead Gunpowder, and provides lead vocals for Green Day's side projects Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, The Longshot and The Coverups. Armstrong has been considered by critics as one of the greatest punk rock guitarists of all time. Armstrong developed an interest in music at a young age, and recorded his first song at the age of five. He met Dirnt while attending elementary school, and the two instantly bonded over their mutual interest in music, forming the band Sweet Children when the two were 14 years old. Chris Dugan
Chris Dugan (born May 11, 1973) is an American Grammy-winning audio engineer, cinematographer, record producer, musician, and singer, best known as the drummer of the Effection and as an audio engineer for Green Day. In 2018, along with Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, guitarist Jason White, and tour manager Bill Schneider, he formed The Coverups, for which he plays drums. History Dugan began his musical pursuits as a drummer. Needing to be resourceful, he learned to do basic recordings for his high school bands. Engineering was an instinctual progression and it was the purist recording styles of the '60s and '70s that really inspired him. ''Lost at Seventeen'' is the second studio album by American rock band Emily's Army, released on June 11, 2013, through Rise Records and Adeline Records. The album was produced by drummer Joey Armstrong's father, Billie Joe Armstrong. It is the band's last studio under their former name "Emily's Army" after changing their name to "Swimmers" in late 2014, and later "Swmrs" in late 2015 It is also the last record to feature lead guitarist Travis Neumann and last to feature Max Becker on bass before switching to lead guitar. It is also their last studio album to be released through Adeline Records and Rise Records. Background After touring on Warped Tours 2011 and 2012, the band returned to the studio to record their second album in late 2012.
