Dominican Republic–Taiwan Relations
Dominican Republic-Taiwan relations are the bilateral relations between the Dominican Republic and Republic of China, now commonly known as Taiwan. The two countries maintained official relations from 1944 to 2018. At the time it broke relations, it was the largest economy amongst the 19 UN member states to have had fully recognized the Republic of China as the sole legitimate representative of all of China. On April 30, 2018, the Dominican Republic announced they were severing diplomatic relations with Taiwan and would establish relations with the People's Republic of China, recognizing Taiwan as an "inalienable part of Chinese territory". Although this decision was mostly due in part to political reasons, and not that of the general public. Shilin District
Shilin District (also spelled Shihlin District, zh, t=士林區, p=Shìlínqū, poj=Sū-lîm-khu) is a district of Taipei. The central command center of the Republic of China Navy (ROCN) is located in Shilin. History The name ''Shilin'' was derived from ''Pattsiran'', the indigenous Ketagalan word for "hot springs". It was then transliterated into Chinese as "" (), which has been written as ''Pat-chi-na'' or ''Pachina''. A free-trade agreement (FTA) or treaty is an agreement according to international law to form a free-trade area between the cooperating states. There are two types of trade agreements: bilateral and multilateral. Leonel Fernández
Leonel Antonio Fernández Reyna () (born 26 December 1953) is a Dominican Republic, Dominican lawyer, academic, and was the 50th and 52nd President of the Dominican Republic from 1996 to 2000 and from 2004 to 2012. Ma Ying-jeou ( zh, 馬英九, born 13 July 1950) is a Hong Kong-born Taiwanese politician who served as president of the Republic of China from 2008 to 2016. Previously, he served as justice minister from 1993 to 1996 and mayor of Taipei from 1998 to 2006. He served as chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 2005 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2014. Ma first won the presidency by 58.45% of the popular vote in the presidential election of 2008, and was re-elected in 2012 with 51.6% of the vote. The China Post
''The China Post'' () was an English-language newspapers published in Taiwan (officially the Republic of China), alongside the ''Taipei Times'' and the ''Taiwan News''. ''The China Post'' was established by Mr. and Mrs. Y. P. Huang in 1952. In April 2017, ''The China Post'' announced that the print edition of the publication would end, though the website and mobile application would remain active. In October 2017, the original China Post website was discontinued and merged with news agency NOWnews. The China Post, however, is still a member of Asia News Network. Now, it often translates articles from Chinese into English and continues to produce bilingual content. Digging back to its roots, it has also begun to write more original articles. The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC; ; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: ''Khièu-vu Vî-yèn-fi'') is a cabinet-level council of the Executive Yuan of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
