Dog Park Dissidents
Dog Park Dissidents is an American queercore anarcho-punk rock band formed in 2017. Its five members are based out of New Orleans, Louisiana; Long Island, New York; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. History 2017-2020: Formation and early career Dog Park Dissidents was founded in 2017 by vocalist Zac Xeper and guitarist Jon Greco on Long Island, New York, where they recorded the band's first song "Queer As In Fuck You" for a planned anti-Trump sampler compilation. Xeper moved to New Orleans from Long Island between recording "Queer" and its release. After the viral success of this first single, Xeper and Greco went on to produce and self-release the 2018 EP ''Sexual and Violent,'' featuring a remastered and lyrically altered version of "Queer" along three other new songs. Queercore
Queercore (or homocore) is a cultural/social movement that began in the mid-1980s as an offshoot of the punk subculture and a music genre that comes from punk rock. It is distinguished by its discontent with society in general, and specifically society's disapproval of the LGBT community. Queercore expresses itself in a DIY style through magazines, music, writing and film. As a music genre, it may be distinguished by lyrics exploring themes of prejudice and dealing with issues such as sexual identity, gender identity and the rights of the individual; more generally, queercore bands offer a critique of society endemic to their position within it, sometimes in a light-hearted way, sometimes seriously. Animal roleplay is a form of roleplay where at least one participant plays the part of a non-human animal. As with most forms of roleplay, its uses include play and psychodrama. Genre-busting
"Genre-busting" is a term used occasionally in reviews of written work, music and visual art and refers to the author or artist's ability to cross over two or more established styles. For instance, in writing, to combine the horror genre with a western or hard-boiled detective story with science fiction. In music, the term may refer to a song combining styles or defying classification. The sound of the term calls to mind other uses of "buster" such as "crime buster", "Gangbusters", "Ghostbusters", " Dambusters", etc. Creative people don't always feel comfortable working within an established category. Glam punk is a term used retrospectively to describe a short-lived trend for bands which produced a form of proto-punk that incorporated elements of glam rock, initially in the early to mid-1970s.
