Doctors' Association Of Bangladesh
Doctors Association of Bangladesh is a trade association of doctors in Bangladesh. It is politically aligned with the right-wing Bangladesh Nationalist Party. It is a rival of the Awami League backed doctors association, Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad. History Doctors Association of Bangladesh was established in 1993 as the pro-Bangladesh Nationalist Party association of doctors. Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad was formed in December 1993 as a Pro-Awami League association of doctors in response to the creation of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh. Professor M. A. Hadi former President of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh died in 2007. In May 2008, Judge Tanzina Ismail of Dhaka Special Court-6 sentenced the General Secretary of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh, AZM Zahid Hossain, was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment and his wife, Rifat Hossain, to three years imprisonment on corruption charges. Bangladesh Nationalist Party
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল, Bangladesh Jātīyotābādī Dol; BNP) is a centre-right to right-wing nationalist, political party in Bangladesh and one of the major political parties of Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by former Bangladeshi President Ziaur Rahman after the Presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting the people with a nationalist ideology. Since then, the BNP won the second, fifth, sixth and eighth national elections and two Presidential elections in 1978 and 1981. The party also holds the record of being the largest opposition in the history of parliamentary elections of the country, with 116 seats in the seventh national election of June 1996. Hussain Muhammad Ershad
Lt. Gen. Hussain Muhammad Ershad ( bn, হুসেইন মুহাম্মদ এরশাদ; 1 February 1930 – 14 July 2019) was a Bangladeshi Army Chief politician who served as the President of Bangladesh from 1983 to 1990, a time many consider to have been a military dictatorship. He seized power as head of the army during a bloodless coup against President Abdus Sattar on 24 March 1982 (by imposing martial law and suspending the Constitution). He declared himself President in 1983, and subsequently won the controversial 1986 Bangladeshi presidential election. Despite claims to have legitimately won the 1986 election, many consider his regime as an era of military dictatorship. Shamsul Alam Khan Milon ( bn, শামসুল আলম খান মিলন), commonly known as ''Shaheed Dr. Milon,'' was a Bangladeshi physician and political activist. He was killed on November 27, 1990 allegedly by cadres of the then military ruler Hussain Muhammad Ershad. Early life and education Milon was born on August 21, 1957 at Dhaka. He passed SSC in 1973 and HSC in 1975 from Notre Dame College, Dhaka. Then he was enrolled in Dhaka Medical College to study Medicine. He passed MBBS in 1983. Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh mostly refer to Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) from Myanmar who are living in Bangladesh. The Rohingya people have experienced ethnic and religious persecution in Myanmar for decades.
