Diving At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Synchronized 3 Metre Springboard
Women's synchronized 3 metre springboard competition at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics was held on 10 August at the Beijing National Aquatics Center. As in all other synchronized diving competitions at the Olympics, a single round of competition was held. Eight pairs of divers competed. Each pair performed five dives, with both divers from the pair jumping at the same time. Nine judges evaluated each dive, with two each judging the performance of the two divers (the execution judges) and five judges evaluating the synchronization of the pair (the synchronization judges). For each dive, four of the nine scores are ignored—the highest and lowest execution scores, and the highest and lowest synchronization scores. The remaining five scores are summed, multiplied by the dive's degree of difficulty, and then multiplied by 0.6 to get the final score for the dive. Beijing National Aquatics Center
The National Aquatics Centre (), and colloquially known as the Water Cube () and the Ice Cube (), is an aquatics center at the Olympic Green in Beijing, China. The facility was originally constructed to host the aquatics competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. During the Olympics — where it hosted diving, swimming and synchronized swimming events — 25 world records were broken in swimming. Diving competitions at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics were held from August 10 to August 23, at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. Competition format The following events were contested by both men and women in Beijing: *3m Springboard Synchronized *10m Platform Synchronized *3m Springboard *10m Platform Individual events consisted of preliminaries, semifinals and finals. The order of divers in the preliminary round were determined by computerized random selection, during the Technical Meeting. The 18 divers with the highest scores in the preliminaries proceeded to the semifinals.The semifinal consisted of the top 18 ranked divers from the preliminary competition and the final consisted of the top 12 ranked divers from the semifinal. Noemi Batki (born 12 October 1987) is a Hungarian-born Italian former diver. She was a member of the Italian National Diving Team at four Olympic Games and was a member of the sports section of the Italian Army, Centro Sportivo Esercito, and Triestina Nuoto. Career Batki was born in Budapest, Hungary. Her mother Ibolya Nagy was a Hungarian platform diver who took part in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. At the age of 3 Batki moved to Belluno, Italy. Sharleen Marie Stratton (born 9 October 1987) is an Australian diving (sport), diver who won gold medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games, and competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, 2012 Olympics. Briony Chastine "Bree" Cole (born 28 February 1983) is a retired Australian diver who won a gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, silver and bronze medals at the 2007 World Championships and a silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, and a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
