Diving At The 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's Synchronized 3 Metre Springboard
The men's synchronized 3 metre springboard was one of eight diving events included in the Diving at the 2004 Summer Olympics programme. The competition was held as an outright final: ;''Final'': 16 August — Each pair of divers performed five dives freely chosen from the five diving groups, with two dives limited to a 2.0 degree of difficulty and the others without limitation. Divers could perform different dives during the same dive if both presented the same difficulty degree. The final ranking was determined by the score attained by the pair after all five dives had been performed. Results The fifth and final round of dives was stage for a bizarre sequence of events, beginning with a spectator jumping into the pool. Thomas Bimis (born 11 June 1975) is a Greek diver. He was born in Athens. Career Bimis competed in the synchronised 3 metre springboard competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he won the gold medal together with Nikolaos Siranidis. This was Greece's first-ever gold medal in diving and the hosts' first gold of the 2004 Athens Olympics, and the diver pair therefore became very popular in Greece. Dmitri Ivanovich Sautin (russian: Дмитрий Иванович Саутин; born 15 March 1974) is a Russian diver who has won more medals than any other Olympic diver. He was born in Voronezh. Sautin started diving at age seven; however, his diving career almost ended in 1991 when he was stabbed multiple times in an attack. After spending two months in the hospital, he was able to dive at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He has won medals at the 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, and the 2008 Olympics. Troy Matthew Dumais (born January 21, 1980) is an American competitive diver from California. Dumais has competed for the United States at four Olympic Games, winning a team bronze medal in the synchronized 3m in 2012. He attended the University of Texas at Austin. Life and career Dumais was raised in a family of divers and swimmers, and in 1994 was named Southern Pacific Association Diver of the Year in his class, as were all his siblings. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, Dumais finished 6th in the men's springboard and 4th in the men's synchronized springboard with David Pichler. Justin Dumais
Justin Dumais (born August 13, 1978, in Oxnard, California) is a former Olympic diver and current commercial airline pilot. He represented the United States in the 2004 Summer Olympics and placed 6th in the 3-meter synchronized spring board with his brother Troy Dumais. Dumais was raised in a family of divers and swimmers, and in 1994 was named Southern Pacific Association Diver of the Year in his class, as were all his siblings. He retired from diving after the 2004 Olympics and joined the US Air Force. Dumais became a fighter pilot, flying F-16 aircraft in the Air National Guard, and is now a first officer at American Airlines. In the 2011 US National Championships, he and his younger brother Dwight Dumais participated in the men's 3-meter synchronized diving event. Antonio "Tony" Pietro Ally (born ''Ali'', 17 August 1973) is a British diver. Early life Ally was brought up in Catford, London and had a difficult start to life after being diagnosed with a hearing disorder during childhood. When he was nine, his brother died and later reasoned that hearing his brother's voice "spurred him on for 19 years". He used to enjoy kickboxing as a child but only as a means of training. He moved to Sheffield in 1992 and trained at Ponds Forge, a leisure complex. Diving career Ally won his first senior national championship when he was aged 12, with coaching being done by lip-reading, as Ally expressed being too proud to wear "old, ugly, cumbersome" hearing aids in his earlier years.
