Olympic Pool (Montreal)
The Montreal Olympic Pool was constructed for the 1976 Summer Olympics as part of the Montreal Olympic Park. The Olympic Pool is part of the larger swimming centre, located in the base of the inclined Montreal Tower. The centre has a spectator capacity of 3,012 seats. At the 1976 Olympics, the venue hosted swimming, diving, water polo, and the swimming part of the modern pentathlon events. It had a capacity of 10,000 seats at the time (6,988 temporary seats were installed). The building was designed by French architect Roger Taillibert, who also designed the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Village. The structure, along with the accompanying velodrome, inspired Taillibert's later designs for Luxembourg's National Sports and Culture Centre. Outside of the actual aquatic complex, inside the tower, a small museum exists, commemorating the 1976 Games as well as Games past, with posters and displays in French and English. Deborah Wilson
Deborah Wilson (née Keplar born 5 November 1955) is an American diver. Wilson originally competed in springboard diving before moving on to platform diving. As a platform diver, she was first at the 1973 Amateur Athletic Union national diving championships. She participated in the 1973 World Aquatics Championships and 1975 World Aquatics Championships but did not medal in either championship. In international competitions, Wilson won a bronze medal in the women's 10 metre platform event at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Early life and education Wilson was born on 5 November 1955 in Columbus, Ohio. When she was twelve, Wilson was both a swimmer and diver before she decided to focus on diving. Ulrika Knape
Ulrika Margareta Knape-Lindberg (née ''Knape'' on 26 April 1955) is a retired Swedish diver. She competed in the 10 m platform and 3 m springboard at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics and won one gold and two silver medals. In 1972–1974 she was named the ''World Platform Diver of the Year''. Domestically she won 38 Swedish titles. Knape won the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal in 1972, and after retiring from competitions worked as a national diving coach. Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Potter (born August 27, 1950) is an American former Olympic diver and diving color commentator. She was a member of three Olympic diving teams, winning a bronze medal in the 3 m springboard in 1976. Career Diving An 11-time All-American, Potter won a record 28 national diving championships. She was the U.S. outdoor champion in the 1-meter springboard from 1968 through 1977. Jennifer Chandler
Jennifer Kay Bellamy Chandler (born June 13, 1959) is a retired American diver who won the gold medal in the women's 3-metre springboard event at the 1976 Summer Olympics. She also won a gold medal at the 1975 Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the 1978 World Aquatics Championships. She is also a seven-time national diving champion. Chandler started diving when she was nine. When she was 12 she went to the junior Olympics. In 1975 she won the AAU national indoor 1-meter springboard event. In 1976 she won the national indoor 3-meter springboard championship. She retired when she was 21 due to back injuries. Chandler was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame (ASHOF) in 1985.
