Diving At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's 10 Metre Platform
The women's 10 metre platform diving competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo was held on 4 to 5 August 2021 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. It was the 25th appearance of the event, which has been held at every Olympic Games since the 1912 Summer Olympics. Competition format The competition will be held in three rounds: * Preliminary round: All divers perform five dives; the top 18 divers advance to the semi-final. * Semi-final: The 18 divers perform five dives; the scores of the qualifications are erased and the top 12 divers advance to the final. * Final: The 12 divers perform five dives; the semi-final scores are erased and the top three divers win the gold, silver and bronze medals accordingly. Within each round of five dives, each dive must be from a different one of the six groups (forward, back, reverse, inward, twisting, and armstand). Quan Hongchan ( zh, s=全红婵, t=全紅嬋, p=Quán Hóngchán; born 28 March 2007) is a Chinese diver, national champion, and Olympic champion. She won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the individual 10-metre platform event. In August 2021, Quan Hongchan was awarded the "Chinese Youth May Fourth Medal" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation. Lois Mae Toulson (born 26 September 1999) is a British diver. A specialist in the 10 metre platform, she won the gold medal at the inaugural European Games in 2015, and the senior European title in 2017. She competed in the women's synchronized ten metre platform event at the 2016 Summer Olympics with Tonia Couch. Nikita Hains (born 2 November 2000) is an Australian diver who competes in the 10m individual events, as well as the 10m synchronised. Early life Hains was born in Perth, Western Australia. She started out as a gymnast in her hometown of Perth at age 3. She transitioned from gymnastics into the sport of diving at age 13 and made her international debut just two years later. Hains previously trained as a member of the Western Australian Institute of Sport. She was nominated for WAIS Junior Athlete of the Year in 2016, which was won by Tamsin Cook. Early success prompted her to move to Adelaide to train at the National Training Centre in 2019 under coach Rick Schavone where she joined the South Australian Sports Institute. Meaghan Benfeito (born March 2, 1989) is a Canadian diver. She used to compete in the 10m synchronized event with Roseline Filion before the latter retired in January 2017.
