Diving At The 2011 World Aquatics Championships
The diving competition at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships was held between July 16–24, 2011 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China. Chinese divers dominated, winning all 10 gold medals. Events The following events were contested by both men and women in Shanghai: *1 m springboard *3 m springboard *10 m platform *3 m springboard synchronized *10 m platform synchronized Individual events consisted of preliminaries, semifinals and finals. The order of divers in the preliminary round were determined by computerized random selection, during the technical meeting. The 18 divers with the highest scores in the preliminaries proceeded to the semifinals. The semifinal consisted of the top 18 ranked divers from the preliminary competition and the final consisted of the top 12 ranked divers from the semifinal. James Connor (diver)
James Connor (born 5 May 1995) is an Australian diver. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's 10 metre platform event, failing to advance to the semi-finals after classifying 20th in the preliminaries. James began his diving career at the age of 8, at the Ringwood Aquatic Centre, and is a member of the Gannets Diving Club. His more notable results include a gold medal at the 2011 Australian Swimming Championships in the 10 m synchro event with his partner Ethan Warren; as well as becoming a centurion at the Rage in 2017. He also won a silver in the 3 m synchro and a bronze in the 3 m individual springboard on the same occasion. Connor also participated in the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he finished 9th in the 10 metre platform. James also won first place in the 10m platform at the 2009 British Elite Junior Championships, and second in the 3m springboard at the same event. Bryan Nickson Lomas (born 30 June 1990 in Kuching, Sarawak) is a former Malaysian diver. Lomas was the youngest Malaysian athlete to qualify for 2004 Summer Olympics when he was 14. He became the country's first world junior diving champion after winning gold at the 3 m springboard event in the World Junior Championships held at Belem, Brazil in 2004. He trained under the coaching of Yang Zhuliang. Lomas is named after the footballer Bryan Robson by his father. Career At the age of 14, Lomas was the second youngest athlete to compete in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and was the flag-bearer of Malaysia in the opening ceremony. He competed in the 10 meter platform event in which with 407.13 points he finished at 19th spot. Ooi Tze Liang (, born 19 November 1993 in Penang) is a Malaysian diver. Ooi has represented Malaysia in various diving events such as 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 2013 Southeast Asian Games and 2015 Southeast Asian Games.
