Diving At The 2000 Summer Olympics – Men's 3 Metre Springboard
The men's 3 metre springboard was one of eight diving events included in the Diving at the 2000 Summer Olympics programme. The competition was split into three phases: ;''Preliminary round'': 25 September — Each diver performed a front dive, a back dive, a reverse dive, an inward dive, a twisting dive and a sixth free-choice dive from one of these groups. There were no limitations in degree of difficulty. The 18 divers with the highest total score advanced to the semi-final. ;''Semi-final'': 26 September — Each diver performed a front dive, a back dive, a reverse dive, an inward dive and a twisting dive. Xiong Ni
Xiong Ni (; born January 11, 1974, in Changsha, Hunan) is a Chinese diver who won his first Olympic medal at the age of 14 at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. He also competed at the Olympics in 1992, 1996 and 2000. Biography He attended an international competition for the first time in 1987, and won the title. He has since competed at the Olympic Games, winning 3 gold, 1 silver and one bronze medals; In addition, he has won 10 gold medals in the World Cup competition. In 1993, Xiong graduated from the Hunan University international business school, specialising in industry and foreign trade In 1997 and once again in 2001 after national games he announced his intention to retire. Fernando Platas
Fernando Fabricio Platas Álvarez (born March 16, 1973, in Mexico City) is a Mexican diver. He began diving since he was a young boy. In 1990 he won in Germany two tests of 2 and 10 metres, and in that same year he won three gold medals in the Central American Games which took place in Mexico City. In 1992, he represented Mexico in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain and in 1993 he won a silver medal in the FINA Championships. Winner of the silver medal in the FINA Championships, for 1999 he won the gold medal in the 3 metre springboard. During the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia he won the silver medal in the 3 metre springboard. Dmitri Sautin
Dmitri Ivanovich Sautin (russian: Дмитрий Иванович Саутин; born 15 March 1974) is a Russian diver who has won more medals than any other Olympic diver. He was born in Voronezh. Sautin started diving at age seven; however, his diving career almost ended in 1991 when he was stabbed multiple times in an attack. After spending two months in the hospital, he was able to dive at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He has won medals at the 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, and the 2008 Olympics. Degree of difficulty (DD, sometimes called tariff or grade) is a concept used in several sports and other competitions to indicate the technical difficulty of a skill, performance, or course, often as a factor in scoring.
