''Diva'' is the debut studio album by American rock band My Sister's Machine. Background and recording Before the formation of My Sister's Machine, singer and lyricist Nick Pollock had played guitar in an early incarnation of Alice in Chains with vocalist Layne Staley; they called themselves Alice N' Chains. When that band broke up on friendly terms in 1987, Pollock played for a year with older musicians in a funk band. Culprit is an American heavy metal band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1981 by vocalist Jeff L'Heureux, guitarists John DeVol and Kjartan Kristoffersen, bassist Scott Earl, and drummer Bud Burrill. Their debut album '' Guilty as Charged'' was first released through Shrapnel Records in 1983 and later again through Hellion Records in 2000. The band broke up in 1985 and each of its members moved on to other endeavors. History Formation (1981–1985) and ''Guilty as Charged'' Culprit was the result of a merger between two Seattle area bands named Orpheus and Amethyst in 1981. Howie Weinberg is an American audio mastering engineer with over 2,257 mastering credits, three TEC Awards, 21 Grammy Awards, two Juno Awards, and one Mercury Prize. Career Weinberg mastered Herbie Hancock's 1983 album ''Future Shock''. Other mastering works include the Beastie Boys' ''Licensed to Ill'' and Nirvana's ''Nevermind''. Weinberg began working in the mail room at Masterdisk in 1979, delivering recording tapes in New York City. Mastering engineer Bob Ludwig acted as his mentor. In January 2011, he left Masterdisk to set up his own mastering company in Los Angeles, Howie Weinberg Mastering, which appeared in ''Voyage LA''s "Most Inspiring Stories" on February 11, 2021. "Sea of Sorrow" is a song by the American rock band Alice in Chains, featured on their debut full-length album ''Facelift'' (1990). The song was included on the compilation album ''The Essential Alice in Chains'' (2006). A demo version of the song was included on the box set ''Music Bank'' (1999). Release and reception "Sea of Sorrow" peaked at number 27 on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. "Sea of Sorrow" was a moderate success and is still occasionally played on alternative rock radio stations. Ned Raggett of AllMusic said that the song "showed that even as a fairly young group Alice in Chains wanted to fool around with expectations at least a bit" and that "just about every member gets a little moment of flair on the track."
