Disband (TV Series)
''Disband'' (stylized as ''disBand'') is a Canadian reality show that was produced and broadcast by MuchMusic that gave aspiring music acts a chance to get big industry attention. It was hosted by either Sarah Taylor or Devon Soltendieck and was usually narrated by the lead singer of the featured band. Overview Each episode featured a band that was coached by a music industry veteran and at the end performed for a panel of judges. Greig Nori "The Guru" had made appearances as an adviser, and Ralph James, Jennifer Hirst, Colin Lewis, JDiggz, Hannah Simone, Mark Spicoluk, Katie Clark, and Matt Wells had appeared as judges. Each episode was in 7 different segments, for each day of the week leading up until Sunday, their performance day at MuchMusic Headquarters. Greig Nori
Greig Andrew Nori (born November 21, 1962) is a producer and musician from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and is well known as the frontman, co-lead vocalist and guitarist of the pop punk band Treble Charger. In the late 1990s, he began working as a producer with Sum 41 and was their in-house producer and manager until 2004. In 2007, Greig went back to the studio to produce for the pop punk bands Cauterize and Hedley, for their albums ''Disguises'' and ''Famous Last Words'', respectively. Nori is one of the heads of Bunk Rock Music, a Canadian artist management company. He manages bands including Gob, Surplus Sons and The New Cities. He is currently signed as producer by Nettwerk. Since 2008, Nori is featured as the Musical guru on the show '' DisBAND''. Underground Operations
Underground Operations was an independent punk rock record label based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1995, the label was originally based in Ajax, Ontario. Operated by Mark Spicoluk, former Closet Monster member and former bass player for Avril Lavigne, this label was one of the most successful independent labels in Canada. Spicoluk started the label when he was 16 years of age. Underground Operations shut down on December 2, 2016. Lights (musician)
Lights Poxleitner-Bokan (born Valerie Anne Poxleitner; April 11, 1987), known mononymously as Lights (previously stylized as LIGHTS), is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter. She is known for singles "Drive My Soul", "February Air", "Ice", "Second Go", "Toes", "My Boots" and "Up We Go", which have charted within the top ninety on the Canadian Hot 100. Her work has earned multiple Juno Awards and Canadian Independent Music Awards. Her debut EP ''Lights'' was released in July 2008 and achieved commercial success which enabled the release of her first full-length album, '' The Listening'', on September 22, 2009. Capitol Records, LLC (known legally as Capitol Records, Inc. until 2007) is an American record label distributed by Universal Music Group through its Capitol Music Group imprint. These Kids Wear Crowns
These Kids Wear Crowns is a six-member Canadian power pop and pop-rock band, formed in 2009 in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. They were "discovered" on MuchMusic's ''disBand'' and signed to a contract with Capitol Records/EMI. They have performed with acts such as Hedley, Faber Drive, Forever the Sickest Kids, Good Charlotte and Lights. The band's debut single and music video "Break It Up" debuted at No. 60 on the Canadian Hot 100. They re-issued their EP on August 31, 2010. In Fall 2010, These Kids Wear Crowns returned to the studio to record their full-length album, entitled ''Jumpstart'', which was released on March 1, 2011. San Sebastian (band)
San Sebastian is an indie pop rock band from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Formerly known as Pumps, they broke out on to the scene after appearing on the MuchMusic original series, disBAND. Biography Formerly known as "Pumps", San Sebastian is two sets of brothers and Ted Paterson. They describe themselves as five close friends from the Hamilton music scene who came together in late 2008 to lay down the foundations of a rock 'n roll band. In 2010 they became well known after appearing on the MuchMusic original series, disBAND. After appearing on the show, they were signed to Universal Canada. The members of the band are singer Mike Veerman, guitarist Brodie Dawson, bassist Greg Veerman, guitarist Sean Dawson, and drummer Ted Paterson. Abandon All Ships
Abandon All Ships is a Canadian metalcore band from Toronto, Ontario. Formed in 2006, it was signed domestically to Universal Music Canada via Underground Operations, along with an American deal to Rise Records and its imprint Velocity Records. Dean Lickyer
Dean Lickyer was a Canadian rock music group formed in 2004 in Hamilton. Originally playing together as High Voltage, the band selected their Dean Lickyer name in 2008 to recognize the man whose love of rock and roll had helped inspire them. Two of the members continue to write original music as The Bleeding Idahos. Biography The band's name pays homage to Dean Lequyer, a high school friend of band member Sean Royle's father. Lequyer had introduced Royle's father to classic rock artists before they were widely popular, including Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Humble Pie, to name a few. Although Lequyer died in the late 1990s, Royle's father passed this interest down to his son.
