Dirk B.J. Schouten
Dirk Bernard Joseph (Dick) Schouten (25 January 1923 – 3 February 2018) was a Dutch economist, and Professor of General Economics and Economic History at Tilburg University, known for his work concerning macroeconomic modelling. Biography Schouten received his PhD from Tilburg University in 1950 with a thesis entitledDe overheidsfinanciën in de volkshuishouding : een macro-economische studie over de betekenis van de openbare financiën op lange termijn voor de omvang, de verdeling en de besteding van het nationaal inkomen, supervised by M.J.H. Smeets. After his graduation, Schouten kept working for the Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. In 1954, he got appointed Professor of Economics and History of Economics at Tilburg University. Among his doctoral students were Theo van de Klundert (PhD 1962), Piet A. Verheyen (PhD 1962), Ad Kolnaar (PhD 1969) and Wim van den Goorbergh (PhD 1978). The Social and Economic Council (Dutch: ''Sociaal-Economische Raad'', SER) is a major economic advisory council to the cabinet of the Netherlands. Formally it heads a system of sector-based regulatory organisations. It represents the social partners trade unions and employers' organisations. Gerardus Mattheus Johannes "Gerard" Veldkamp (27 June 1921 – 15 September 1990) was a Dutch politician of the defunct Catholic People's Party (KVP) now merged into the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party and economist. Willem Maria (Wim) van den Goorbergh (born 7 April 1948) is a Dutch economist and banker. He was Chief Executives Officer of the Executive board of the Rabobank until 2002. Biography Born in Breda, Van den Goorbergh studied econometrics at the Tilburg University, where in 1971 he received his MSc and in 1978 his PhD under supervision of Dirk Bernard Joseph Schouten with a thesis entitled "Een macro-economische theorie van de werkgelegenheid : een conjunctuur- en structuuranalyse van het jaargangenmodel."
