The Director-General is chief executive and editor-in-chief of public service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). The current director-general is Dee Forbes, who replaced Noel Curran in the role in 2016. Raidi (; ; also written Ragdi; born August, 1938) is a Tibetan politician of the People's Republic of China. Dee Forbes
Deirdre Anne "Dee" Forbes (born 1 February 1967) has been the Director-General of RTÉ since April 2016. She is the first woman to hold the role, and the first external appointment in almost 50 years. Prior to joining RTÉ, she was President & Managing Director of Discovery Networks Northern Europe. Personal life Forbes comes from Drimoleague, County Cork, where her parents ran the East End bar. Noel Curran (born 13 November 1967) is an Irish radio and television producer and journalist who has been the Director-General of the European Broadcasting Union since October 2017. He previously served as the Director-General of RTÉ (Ireland's national broadcaster) from 2011 to 2016. He has worked in the Editorial, Management and Commercial areas of media. The RTÉ Executive Board, despite its name, is not a board of directors, but rather is a committee composed of the senior management of the Irish public service broadcaster, Raidió Teilifís Éireann, responsible for the day-to-day running of the broadcaster. RTÉ Radio is a division of the Irish national broadcasting organisation Raidió Teilifís Éireann. RTÉ Radio broadcasts four analogue channels and five digital channels nationwide. Kevin McCourt (businessman)
Kevin McCourt (1915–2000) was an Irish businessman and Director-General of RTÉ between 1962 and 1968. He also served as Managing Director of Irish Distillers and the Dutch firm Hunter Douglas. Early life and education He was born 14 April 1915 in Tralee, County Kerry, second son among three sons and one daughter of John McCourt, originally of Banbridge, County Down, clerk with the congested districts board at Tralee, and later a distributor with Argosy Libraries, and Mary Christina McCourt (née Small) of Co.
