Diocese Of Isiolo
The Diocese of Isiolo is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in the Eastern Province, Kenya. Its episcopal see is in Isiolo, where the St. Eusebius Cathedral is located. History The Apostolic Vicariate of Isiolo (''Vicariatus Apostolicus Isiolansus'') was created on 15 December 1995 on territory split off from the Diocese of Meru in Eastern Province, Kenya. On February 15, 2023, Pope Francis elevated the vicariate to the Diocese of Isiolo and appointed Anthony Ireri Mukobo as its first bishop. Statistics As per 2014, the vicariate pastorally serves 49,800 Catholics (34.8% of 143,294 total) on an area of 25,605 km², in 13 parishes and a mission with 22 priests (16 diocesan, 6 religious), 55 lay religious (9 brothers, 46 sisters) and 12 seminarians. John Njue
John Njue (born 1944) is a Kenyan Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was the fourth Archbishop of Nairobi from 2007 to 2021. He previously served as Coadjutor Archbishop of Nyeri from 2002 to 2007 and Bishop of Embu from 1986 to 2002. He was elevated to the rank of cardinal in 2007. Biography Njue was born in Embu, Kenya, in 1944 to Joseph Nyanga Kibariki and Monica Ngina Nyaga. He was baptized in 1948, and entered the minor seminary in Nkubu in 1962. From 1967 to 1974, he furthered his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Urbaniana University (where he obtained a licentiate in philosophy) and Pontifical Lateran University (licentiate in pastoral theology). On 6 January 1973, Njue was ordained to the priesthood by Pope Paul VI in St. Peter's Basilica. Returning to Kenya in October 1974, he did pastoral work in Kariakomu in the southern district of Meru.
