Diocese Of Brandon
The Diocese of Brandon is a diocese of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land of the Anglican Church of Canada. It has an area of . The Rt. Rev'd William Grant Cliff, (formerly Rector of the Collegiate Chapel of St John the Evangelist at Huron University College, and Canon Precentor of the Diocese of Huron) was elected as the 7th Bishop on October 31, 2015, and was consecrated on March 1, 2016. Its cathedral is St. Matthew's Cathedral in Brandon, which was established in 1952. The first synod of the diocese of Brandon was held on 24 June 1924. St Matthew's church in Brandon was declared a pro-cathedral in May, 1945 and upgraded to full cathedral status on October 5, 1952. The then rector of St Matthew's, the Reverend B.O. Whitfield, was appointed first Dean of Brandon in 1957. John Conlin
John Fletcher Stout Conlin (1932-1991) was the fourth Bishop of Brandon. Born in Belfast he came to Canada in 1952. He was educated at the University of Saskatchewan and ordained in 1958. He began his career as Curate at Gilbert Plains, Manitoba after which he held incumbencies in Killarney, Manitoba and Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. William Cliff (bishop)
William Grant Cliff (born 1966) is a Canadian Anglican bishop and musician. Since 2016, he has been bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Brandon. On April 29, 2023, Cliff was elected the 13th bishop of the Diocese of Ontario. Biography He was born in 1966, in Sarnia, Ontario and raised in nearby Wyoming, Ontario. Cliff attended his local primary school, Wyoming Public, before skipping Grade 8 and attending Lambton Central Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Petrolia from 1979 to 1984. Following this, he attended the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Music from 1984 to 1988. Following this, he attended King's at Western for a B.A. in Religious Studies before attending Huron University College from 1989 to 1992. Malcolm Alfred Warden Harding (born 28 June 1936 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England) is an English-born Canadian Anglican Bishop. He was the fifth Bishop of Brandon at the Anglican Church of Canada from 1992 to 2001. He was educated at The University of Western Ontario and ordained a priest in 1962. He began his career in charge of five rural parishes in the Fredericton Diocese after which he worked for the Children's Aid Society in a number of roles in Ontario until 1973. He became then Rector of St George's, Brandon, Manitoba. He was Archdeacon of the area until 1992 when he ascended to the episcopate. He retired in 2001. Ecclesiastical Province Of Rupert's Land
The Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land, founded in 1875, forms one of four ecclesiastical provinces in the Anglican Church of Canada. Territorial evolution The territory covered by the province is roughly coterminous with the western portion of the former Hudson's Bay Company concession of Rupert's Land, as well as the North-Western Territory of British North America. It today consists of the present day provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, as well as the extreme western portion of Ontario and the Nunavik area of Quebec. It also includes all of the territories of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Ivor Arthur Norris (9 July 1901 – 24 January 1969) was the second Bishop of Brandon. He was born in Willesden Green and educated at St John's College, Winnipeg and King's College London and ordained in 1926.
