The Archdiocese of Niamey is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese in Niger. It is based in the capital city of Niamey and was erected on 28 April 1942. Pope Benedict XVI made it an archdiocese in June 2007. It performs the Latin Rite and covers approximately . As of 2004, the diocese population was about 5,880,000 with 0.3% Catholic. 29 priests were in the Diocese for a ratio of 517 Catholics per Priest. Ambroise Ouédraogo
Ambroise Ouédraogo (born 15 December 1948) is the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Maradi in Niger. He was appointed in 2001 as the first bishop of this new diocese, one of two dioceses in Niger. He has organised a structure of administration and ministry, with a focus on dialogue with the Islamic majority in the area which has less than 1% Christians. Life Ouédraogo was born at Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on 15 December 1948. He was ordained as a priest on 30 June 1979. The same year, he was vicar in the parish ''Sacré Cœur de Dapoya''. In 1982, he was appointed military priest of Burkina Faso. In December 1985, he was sent to Niamey in Niger as a priest of '' Fidei donum''. Guy Armand Romano (11 June 1937 – 23 November 2023) was a French Roman Catholic prelate. He was Apostolic Administrator of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Niamey from 1984 to 1997 and titular bishop of Caput Cilla Caput Cilla, an Ancient city and former bishopric in Roman North Africa, is now a Latin Catholic titular see.
