Deathrock
Death rock (or deathrock) is a rock music subgenre incorporating horror elements and gothic theatrics. It emerged from punk rock on the West Coast of the United States in the early 1980s and overlaps with the gothic rock and horror punk genres.Gitane Demone: ''20 Years in Death'', published in Matzke, Peter; Seeliger, Tobias: ''Gothic!'', Schwarzkopf Verlag, Germany 1999, , p. 42 Bag, Alice: Interview with Dinah Cancer of 45 Grave', Women in L.A. Punk, November 2004"The first prowlings of death rock came in the early '80s before we were labeled as our other counterparts – the gothic movement. There were no Goths. The Death rockers were splintered off from the punk/hardcore scene that was going on at the time. We played punk rock but we loved Halloween and we looked like vampires. 45 Grave
45 Grave is an American rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1979. The original group broke up in 1985, but vocalist Dinah Cancer subsequently revived the band. History The band was founded during the punk rock movement by Paul B. Cutler in Los Angeles, California, alongside another band with almost the same lineup called Vox Pop, which produced two singles. 45 Grave's original lineup consisted of Cancer (formerly of Castration Squad) on vocals, Cutler (formerly of the Consumers) on guitar, Rob Graves (also known as Rob Ritter, formerly of the Exterminators, the Bags and the Gun Club) on bass, and Don Bolles (of the Exterminators, the Germs and Nervous Gender) on drums. The name, according to Bolles, derived from a mysterious button Cutler found at a thrift store and gave to Bolles for Christmas that said "WE DIG 45 GRAVE". Bolles stated that this needed to be the name of the band, and everyone agreed. In 1980, 45 Grave recorded their first released song, "Riboflavin Flavo ...

The band also featured guitarist Paul Cutler (formerly of the Consumers), bassist Rob Graves (previously of Bags), drummer Don Bolles (previously of Germs and Nervous Gender) and keyboardist Paul Roessler (previously of the Screamers and Nervous Gender). In 1981, 45 Grave released their first single, "Black Cross", and contributed several songs to the compilation ''Hell Comes to Your House''. Lisa Pifer
Lisa Pifer (born 1967), also known as Lisafer, is an American bass player and songwriter from Los Angeles. She has played in many punk bands, including U.X.A., Nina Hagen, D.I., Snap-her, and Lisafer. She is of German-Dutch descent. Pifer grew up around musicians, most notably the Electric Prunes as her mother's close friend Pamela was married to James Lowe the Prunes' singer. The Prunes were her first look into the music world and Lisa took piano lessons and wrote songs as a child due to their influence. It was a permanent impression that has lasted. During the early 1980s, Lisa got into the punk scene and saw many of the pioneering punk bands perform and was forever hooked on the energy that spewed out of them. The anger, the force, and the attitude. It was in the 1990s that she joined Snap-Her & recorded her first punk songs. This all-girl line-up was featured on the cover of Flipside Fanzine. Many said it was due to their short skirts and garter belts. Soon after, they ...
