Dilman, Azerbaijan
Dilman is a village and municipality in the Agsu Rayon of Azerbaijan. It has a population of 905. The municipality consists of the villages of Dilman, Xatman, and Hacıman. The village is situated close to Shamakhy (previous capital of Azerbaijan during the Shirvanshah government). The village of Dilman has faced many conflicts throughout history, including the Persian wars with the Ottomans and Russians. The ethnic group of the village has preserved its Turkish roots through a long run of challenges. The climate of Dilman is mysterious due its location around the Caucasian mountains and forests. Salmas ( fa, سلماس; ; ; ; syr, ܣܵܠܵܡܵܣ, Salamas) is the capital of Salmas County, West Azerbaijan Province in Iran. It is located northwest of Lake Urmia, near Turkey. According to the 2019 census, the city's population is 127,864. The majority of the population is composed of Azerbaijanis and Kurds with some Armenians, Assyrians, and Jews. Battle Of Dilman
The Battle of Dilman (April 15, 1915) was a battle during World War I fought at Dilman between the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire. Despite having the larger forces, the Ottomans suffered 468 dead, 1,228 wounded, and 370 missing in the first day. Many injured Ottoman soldiers were abandoned on the field of battle. More than half of the Ottoman troops were Kurdish, almost all of whom deserted. By the end of the battle, the Ottomans had 3,500 of its soldiers killed. Artur Valeryevich Dilman (russian: Артур Валерьевич Дильман; born August 29, 1990) is a Kazakh swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. He represented his nation Kazakhstan at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a career total of six medals (two in each color) in a major international competition, spanning both the indoor and outdoor Asian Games. Dilman also spent his college sports career in the United States as a member of the Drury Panthers swimming and diving team under head coach Brian Reynolds, while pursuing his sports management studies at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. Dilman competed for the Kazakh swimming squad in the men's 200 m freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
