''Digitiser'' was a video games magazine that was broadcast on Teletext in the UK between 1993 and 2003. It originally billed itself a"The World's Only Daily Game Magazine" The page was launched on 1 January 1993 on page 370 of the Teletext service on ITV before transferring over to Channel 4 later that year. It was updated daily except on Sundays, apart from a nine-month period in 2002 when it went to three days a week, weekends and holidays. It was followed by up to 1.5 million viewers at times. The magazine was notable for its surreal and risqué humour as well as its games coverage. Digitiser was advertised on the back of multiple issues of the multi-platform video game magazine Electric Brain. Paul Rose (writer)
Paul Rose (born 1971), known by his online persona Mr Biffo, is a British screenwriter. He was the editor of the Teletext-based video games magazine Digitiser, which ran between 1993 and 2003, and is a BAFTA-nominated writer of children's television. Career Video games In 1993 Rose founded the Teletext-based video games magazine ''Digitiser''. This ran until 2003, with the service reaching over 1.5 million viewers a week. In 2014, the ''Digitiser'' brand returned as an online website titled ''Digitiser 2000'', penned by Rose. This was followed in 2018 by a video series, ''Digitiser: The Show'', a retrogaming magazine show funded through Kickstarter. The programme now takes the form of shorter weekly uploads to its YouTube page, titled ''Digitiser Mini''. Rose has also written for '' Official PlayStation Magazine'' and ''Retro Gamer''. Teletext Ltd was the provider of teletext and digital interactive services for ITV, Channel 4 and Five in the United Kingdom. Origins ''Teletext Ltd'' started providing teletext services for ITV and Channel 4 on 1 January 1993, replacing the previous ORACLE service which had lost the franchise. Ownership The company is now owned by A&N Media, the consumer division of Daily Mail and General Trust's Associated Northcliffe Digital. Its main source of income is from the UK travel website Teletext Holidays. The Chairman of Teletext Ltd is Chris Letcher who acquired a stake in Teletext Holidays from parent company A&N Media. From 1 December 2013, Teletext Holidays moved from advertising holidays from 14 holiday suppliers (including Qwerty Travel, Lowcost Travel Group and Hays Travel) to working with one supplier, Truly Travel. Bamboozle (quiz)
''Bamboozle!'' was a quiz game featured on Channel 4 Teletext in the United Kingdom. It was originally part of Teletext's "Fun & Games" category, though the rest of the category had been discontinued for some years before Bamboozle! ended (due to the general discontinuation of all Teletext news and editorial content in December 2009). The last edition, themed around 'Ends and Lasts', appeared on Monday 14 December 2009. The Boozler 'family' appeared one last time on Tuesday 15 December 2009 saying farewell to the Teletext audience. On 9 August 2010 Bamboozle! was given a new home by Teletext on the iPhone complete with all the retro graphics (no longer available). On 11 July 2019, Teletext Holidays launched a version of the Bamboozle quiz on their 404 error page. Tim Moore (born 18 May 1964 in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire) is a British travel writer and humourist. He was educated at Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith. In addition to his nine published travelogues to date, his writings have appeared in various publications including '' Esquire'', ''The Sunday Times'', ''The Independent'', ''The Observer'' and the ''Evening Standard''. He was also briefly a journalist for the Teletext computer games magazine ''Digitiser'', under the pseudonym Mr Hairs, alongside Mr Biffo (aka comedy and sitcom writer Paul Rose.) Lara Croft is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the video game franchise ''Tomb Raider''. She is presented as a highly intelligent and athletic British archaeologist who ventures into ancient tombs and hazardous ruins around the world. Dreamcast
