Digital Transition And Public Safety Act Of 2005
The Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act of 2005 is a United States Congress legislation enacted on February 8, 2006. This act deals with the cessation of the broadcasting of analog television and the subsequent implementation of digital television. Analog television is the original television technology that uses analog signals to transmit video and audio. The digital television transition in the United States was the switchover from analog to exclusively digital broadcasting of terrestrial television programming. It was originally set for December 31, 2006, but was delayed several times due to multiple government acts being enforced on broadcasting companies.
