Night Train Lane
Richard Lane (April 16, 1928 – January 29, 2002), commonly known as Dick "Night Train" Lane, was an American professional football player who was a cornerback for 14 years in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Los Angeles Rams ( 1952–1953), Chicago Cardinals (1954–1959), and Detroit Lions (1960–1965). As a rookie in 1952, Lane had 14 interceptions, a mark that remains a NFL record 70 years later. He played in the Pro Bowl seven times and was selected as a first-team All-Pro player seven times between 1956 and 1963. His 68 career interceptions ranked second in NFL history at the time of his retirement and still ranks fourth in NFL history. He was also known as one of the most ferocious tacklers in NFL history and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1974. Richard Douglas Lane
Richard Douglas Lane (1926–2002) was an American scholar, author, collector, and dealer of Japanese art. He lived in Japan for much of his life, and had a long association with the Honolulu Museum of Art in Hawaii, which now holds his vast art collection. Life Lane was born in Kissimmee, Florida. After graduating from high school in 1944, during World War II, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In the Marines he trained as a Japanese translator, and served in Japan during the war. He later received a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii in Japanese and Chinese literature, and continued his studies at Columbia University, where he earned a master's degree and a PhD in 18th-century Japanese literature. In 1957, Lane moved to Japan, where he lived for the rest of his life. Lane was never on a university faculty, but supported himself as an author, dealer and consultant. Richard Lane (May 28, 1899 – September 5, 1982) was an American actor and television announcer/presenter. In movies, he played assured, fast-talking slickers: usually press agents, policemen and detectives, sometimes swindlers and frauds. He is perhaps best known to movie fans as "Inspector Farraday" in the Boston Blackie mystery-comedies. Lane also played Faraday in the first radio version of ''Boston Blackie'', which ran on NBC from June 23, 1944 to September 15, 1944. Richard Gautier Lane (June 20, 1927 – October 31, 2015) was an American politician. He was born in Atlanta. Lane served in the United States Navy during World War II. He then received his bachelor's degree in psychology from University of Georgia in 1951 and his law degrees from John Marshall Law School. Lane also went to Auburn University. Dick Lane Velodrome, constructed in 1974, is a bicycle racing facility inspired by a group of residents and City officials that visited the Munich Olympics. Located eight miles south of downtown Atlanta, the Velodrome is and 36° banked concrete track, set in Sumner park in a residential part of East Point. The City of East Point owns the facility and has a long-term partnership with East Point Velodrome Association, Inc. (EPVA) to manage it. It is one of 22 active velodromes in the United States. Dick Lane was the director of the East Point Recreation District and a member of the Georgia State Legislature.
