''Diaspora'' is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter Christian Scott released on June 23, 2017 by Ropeadope Records. The album is the second installment of The Centennial Trilogy, with ''Ruler Rebel'' and ''The Emancipation Procrastination'' being the first and the third ones respectively. Background The title ''Diaspora'' refers to the entirety of Adjuah's listening public, even though the term has specific meanings in the African-American experience, celebrating the rhythmic feels and traditions that arose from the historic movement of African peoples to the Americas and around the globe. Adjuah explains "We're trying to highlight the sameness between seemingly disparate cultures of sound as a means of showing a broader reverence and love for the people who create the sound and the experiences that lead them to those places." Christian Scott (born March 31, 1983), known professionally as Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah), is an American jazz trumpeter, multi instrumentalist, composer, and producer. He has been nominated for six Grammy Awards, is a two-time Edison Award winner, the recipient of the JazzFM Innovator/Innovation of the year Award in 2016, Jazz Journalist Trumpeter of the Year, The Herb Alpert Award in the arts, and The Changing Worlds Peace Maker Award. Adjuah is the grandson of Big Chief Donald Harrison Sr. and Grand Griot of New Orleans and Guardians Institute founder Herreast Harrison, the nephew of jazz saxophonist Donald Harrison Jr., and is a chieftain of the Xodokan Nation of the maroon tribes of New Orleans. Yukimi Nagano
Yukimi Eleanora Nagano (born 31 January 1982) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She is the vocalist for the Swedish electronic group Little Dragon. Career Early career Nagano first made a record at the age of 18 with Andreas Saag (Swell Session). She then worked with Swedish nu jazz duo Koop on the songs "Summer Sun" and "Bright Nights" (both from 2001's ''Waltz for Koop'') and joined the duo on tour, which she says "opened a lot of doors for me both life and collaboration wise".
