Teggiano (formerly Diano; Teggianese: ) is a town and ''comune'' in Campania, Italy, in the province of Salerno. It is situated on an isolated eminence above the upper part of the valley to which it gives the name of Vallo di Diano. Among the historic centers of the province, Teggiano is certainly one that has best preserved its ancient appearance of the fortress and it is this aspect which is shown to those who reach the old town. Geography Situated between the Alburni mountains and the borders of Campania with Basilicata, it is considered a geographical subregion of Cilento and is part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, World Heritage Site of Italy from 1998. The greatest forestal park, mainly located in cilentan side, is Pruno. The area is composed by 17 municipalities, and the greatest one is Sala Consilina, with c. 12,500 inhabitants. Gaspard de Diano or Gaspare de Diano (1389–1451) was a Roman Catholic prelate who served as Archbishop of Naples (1438–1451), ''(in Latin)'' Archbishop of Conza (1422–1438), ''(in Latin)'' and Bishop of Teano (1412–1422). ''(in Latin)'' Biography Gaspard de Diano was born in 1389. On 30 June 1412, he was appointed during the papacy of Pope Gregory XII as Bishop of Teano. Giacinto Diano
Giacinto Diano or Diana (28 March 1731 – 13 August 1803) was an Italian painter, active in Southern Italy in a style that mixes Rococo and Neoclassicism. Life Giacinto was born in Pozzuoli, and died in Naples. He trained in the studio of Francesco De Mura, whose work would influence his early compositions. He worked briefly in Rome with Anton Raphael Mengs, before settling in Naples in 1752. Naples was at the time experiencing a period of great artistic and cultural splendor due to the presence of the enlightened Charles III of Spain. Nicknamed ''o Puzzulaniello'' or referred to as ''il Pozzolano'', Giacinto succeeded in gaining within a short timespan a prominent place in the art scene of his time. Claudiano Alves dos Santos (born 7 October 1981), better known as Diano, is a retired Brazilian footballer who played as a defender. His last known club was Sriwijaya FC in the Indonesia Super League. Career Diano started his career at Guaçuano before being signed by Belasitsa Petrich on 19 July 2005. Diano joined Levski Sofia on loan for the second half of the 2006–07 season before leaving for Olimpik Baku in 2008.
