Dialog Im Kamptal
The Dialog im Kamptal (''Dialogue in Kamptal'') is a political platform and discussion meeting founded in 2019 in Gars am Kamp, Austria. It is organized as a private, non-partisan initiative and platform based on a purely voluntary basis in the tradition of a "Salon (gathering), citizens' salon". In terms of content, the dialogues deal with aspects of European politics and history as well as purely Austrian. History The Dialogue in Kamptal is founded and organized by Georgia Kazantzidu and Matthias Laurenz Gräff in the ''Art studio Gräff'' in Gars am Kamp. The location was chosen to demonstrate the importance of Art in Europe politics and society such as the closeness to citizens. For both, the Greek-born Kazantzidu and Gräff, reasons for starting the dialogue are also the common European history, the philosophical and political values since the time of Ancient Greece, humanism and the resulting shared responsibility in society. Gars Am Kamp
Gars am Kamp is a market town at the Kamp river (Kamptal) in the district of Horn, region Waldviertel in the Austrian state Lower Austria with 3,542 inhabitants (2016). History Gars was between 1075 - 1095, during the reign of the House of Babenberg, a former capital of ancient Austria. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Gars was a traditional summer resort ('' Sommerfrische''). At the end of the 20th century, the climatic health resort (''Luftkurort'') of Gars experienced another boom thanks to Willi Dungl's health tourism. 2019 Austrian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Austria on 29 September 2019 to elect the 27th National Council, the lower house of Austria's bicameral parliament. The snap election was called in the wake of the Ibiza affair in May, which caused the resignation of Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache and the collapse of the governing coalition of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). The government subsequently lost a motion of no confidence in parliament, and ÖVP Chancellor Sebastian Kurz was replaced by non-partisan Brigitte Bierlein on an interim basis. The conservative ÖVP achieved its best result since 2002, improving its vote share six percentage points. The centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) won just 21.2%, its worst result in over a century. The FPÖ suffered a substantial loss of almost ten points. The International Paneuropean Union, also referred to as the Pan-European Movement and the Pan-Europa Movement, is the oldest European unification movement. It began with the publishing of Count Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi's manifesto ''Paneuropa'' (1923), which presented the idea of a unified European State. The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) is the political group in the European Parliament of the Party of European Socialists (PES). The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats was officially founded as a Socialist Group on 29 June 1953 which makes it the second oldest political group in the European Parliament after Renew Europe (Renew). It adopted its present-day name on 23 June 2009. Emil Brix (born 1956) is an Austrian diplomat and historian. Life and career Born 1956 in Vienna, he studied English and History at the University of Vienna. Starting in 1982, he worked for the Foreign Service of the Republic of Austria. From 1984 to 1986, he was a secretary of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), and from 1986 to 1989, he worked in the office of the federal minister for science and research, Hans Tuppy. From 1990 to 1995, he was the consul general in Kraków, and from 1995 to 1999, he was the manager of the Austrian Institute for Culture in London. Until early 2010, he was the director of the politico-cultural section of the foreign office. Between April 2010 and January 2015, Brix was the Austrian ambassador in London. Hannes Swoboda (born 10 November 1946) is an Austrian social democratic politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 1996 until 2014. The Landtag of Lower Austria is the state parliament of the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It exercises the state legislation (legislature).
