Dhruva (Sanskrit: ध्रुव, , lit. "''unshakeable, immovable, or fixed"'') was an ascetic devotee of Vishnu mentioned in the Vishnu Purana and the Bhagavata Purana. The Sanskrit term ''dhruva nakshatra'' (ध्रुव नक्षत्र, "polar star") has been used for Pole Star in the Mahabharata, personified as son of Uttānapāda and grandson of Manu, even though Polaris at the likely period of the recension of the text of the Mahabharata was still several degrees away from the celestial pole. Narrative Dhruva was born as son of the King Uttānapāda (the son of Svayambhuva Manu) and his wife Suniti. The king also had another son Uttama, born to his second queen Suruchi, who was the preferred object of his affection. ''Dhruva'' is a 2016 Indian Telugu-language action thriller film directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Allu Aravind under his banner Geetha Arts. It features Ram Charan in the titular role, along with Aravind Swamy, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravi Arveti and Navdeep in important roles. An official remake of the Tamil film ''Thani Oruvan'' (2015), directed by Mohan Raja, it follows Dhruva, an IPS officer who wants to arrest Siddharth Abhimanyu, a wealthy scientist, who uses secret medical and illegal practices for profit. Dhruva, originally spelled as Dhruvaa (Devnagari ध्रुवा), is an Indian musical band. It is considered to be India's first Sanskrit band. The band is based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The band's genre is a fusion with the use of Indian instruments such as bansuri, shankha, tabla, pakhavaj and European instruments such as harmonium, guitar and acoustic drums. The band was founded by Dr. Sanjay Dwivedi, who has a doctoral degree in Sanskrit and is a practitioner of Indian classical music. Dhruva Interactive was an Indian video game developer based in Bangalore. Rajesh Rao founded the company in March 1997 out of the multimedia company he had established two years earlier. Starbreeze Studios acquired a majority holding in Dhruva Interactive in 2017, which it sold to Rockstar Games in May 2019. With the latter sale, Dhruva Interactive was merged into Rockstar India, Rockstar Games' studio in Bangalore. History Dhruva Interactive was founded by programmer Rajesh Rao. While he was an engineering student, he created a multimedia engine for the final assignment in his multimedia course, which he intended to use to establish a multimedia company. Dhruva Dharavarsha
Dhruva (ruled 780–793 CE) was one of the most notable rulers of the Rashtrakuta Empire. He ascended the throne after replacing his elder brother Govinda II. Dhruva Sarja (born 6 October 1988), is an Indian actor who appears in Kannada films. He made his acting debut in the 2012 film, ''Addhuri''. Dhruva Reactor
The Dhruva reactor is India's largest nuclear research reactor. It was the first nuclear reactor in Asia proper. Located in the Mumbai suburb of Trombay at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), it is India's primary generator of weapons-grade plutonium-bearing spent fuel for its nuclear weapons program. Originally named the R-5, this open pool reactor first went critical on 8 August 1985 after 10 years of construction. However, the unit did not attain full power until 1988. The reactor experienced at least one serious accident when of heavy water overflowed from the reactor core in 1985 following vibration problems. Designed as a larger version of the CIRUS reactor, Dhruva was an Indian designed project built to provide an independent source of weapons-grade plutonium free from safeguards.
