Devil's Peak Estate
Devil's Peak Estate is a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa in the area known as the City Bowl. It is sandwiched between Vredehoek and Zonnebloem on the slopes of Devil's Peak. According to the 2011 census it has a population of 1,859 residents in an area of . Devil's Peak is situated adjacent to the M3 expressway (De Waal Drive changed to Philip Kgosana Drive). The name Devil's Peak is descriptive of its location as this is the closes suburb to the mountain peak of the same name. It is derived from a folklore story about a pipe smoking competition between a pirate named Van Hunks and the Devil. To this day when a cloud forms around the mountain people will say that "the Devil and van Hunks are at it again". Devil's Peak is knows as one of the windiest places in the city bowl. A neighborhood watch or neighbourhood watch (see spelling differences), also called a crime watch or neighbourhood crime watch, is an organized group of civilians devoted to crime and vandalism prevention within a neighborhood. MyCiTi
MyCiti is a bus rapid transit service with feeders, which forms part of a greater Integrated Public Transport driven economic development strategy of the City of Cape Town Municipality (CoCT) in South Africa. The service is being rolled out across the Cape Metropole, and provides a significantly enhanced public transport system in about 10% of the City. The service commenced in 2010 with Phase 1, which features buses running north to south along the west coastline of the City. By 2015 MyCiTi provided a rapid bus service between Blouberg / Table View, Atlantis, Melkbosstrand, Dunoon, Milnerton, Paarden Eiland, Century City, Khayelitsha, Mitchells Plain and Cape Town Central. M3 (Cape Town)
The M3 is an expressway in Cape Town, South Africa, connecting the upper part of the City Bowl to the Southern Suburbs and ending in Tokai. For most of its route it parallels - though further to the south and west - the M4 (Main Road), which was the original road connecting central Cape Town with the settlements to the south. Route The M3 begins at a traffic light on Buitengracht Street (the M62) and runs south-east as Buitensingel Street, a dual-carriage roadway. For the next three kilometres it runs south and then east through Gardens; it changes names regularly, being named Orange Street, Annandale Road, Mill Street and Jutland Avenue. The South African National Census of 2011 is the 3rd comprehensive census performed by Statistics South Africa. The 2011 census was the first census to include geo-referencing for every individual dwelling in South Africa. Devil's Peak (Cape Town)
Devil's Peak (Afrikaans: ''Duiwelspiek'') is part of the mountainous backdrop to Cape Town, South Africa. When looking at Table Mountain from the city centre, or when looking at the standard picture postcard view of the mountain, the skyline is from left to right: the spire of Devil's Peak, the flat mesa of Table Mountain, the dome of Lion's Head and Signal Hill. The central districts of Cape Town are nestled within this natural amphitheatre. Zonnebloem (Dutch language, Dutch for sunflower) is a suburb in City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa, previously part of District Six. It was a farming estate until the early 19th century, when it became a suburb of Cape Town as the population and city boundaries grew. Zonnebloem became a home to freed slaves, merchants, labourers and immigrants. During apartheid, the area of District Six was declared a white-only area and the previous residents were forcefully evicted under the Group Areas Act of the apartheid regime. Vredehoek
Vredehoek (Afrikaans: "corner of peace" or "peace corner") is a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa located in the City Bowl, on the slopes of Table Mountain, between Devil's Peak Estate and Oranjezicht. The suburb was proclaimed after the first world war and immigrants from many European countries settled here after peace was declared. It is popular among dual income households yet to have children, and the suburb has been going through an urban revival as older blocks of flats are being replaced with high-quality apartments. The area has an established Neighbourhood Watch community known as DPV, which includes the adjacent suburb of Devil's Peak Estate. There are a series of community amenities such as parks, restaurants, cafes, a library and access to walking trails on the Table Mountain for the public in Vredehoek.
