Desert De Les Palmes Mountains
Desert de les Palmes (, es, Desierto de las Palmas), also known as Serra del Desert de les Palmes is an 18.8 km long mountain range in the Plana Alta comarca, Valencian Community, Spain. Its highest point is Bartolo (729 m). The ''Ermita de La Magdalena'' , an important church for Castellonenc people, is located on a hill at the southern end of the range. The Prime Meridian crosses the Desert de les Palmes roughly in the middle. The Columbretes Islands can be seen on clear days in the horizon looking seaward from the Desert de les Palmes heights. Origin of the name ''Desert'', the name of the range, originated in an ancient eremitical settlement or hermitage, known in Catalan as ''Desert'', that was located in the mountain range. ''Palmes'' on the other hand refers to the abundance of ''Chamaerops humilis'' palms in the range. Short, stocky, and growing in clumps, ''Chamaerops humilis'' is the only palm endemic to Europe. Sistema Ibérico
The Iberian System ( es, Sistema Ibérico, ) is one of the major systems of mountain ranges in Spain. It consists of a vast and complex area of mostly relatively high and rugged mountain chains and massifs located in the central region of the Iberian Peninsula, but reaching almost the Mediterranean coast in the Valencian Community in the east. The system is hydrographically important, as it separates the watersheds of most of the major rivers in Spain and Portugal, including the Ebro basin from the basins of the Douro, Tagus, Guadiana (Záncara- Gigüela), Júcar and Turia. There are important mining areas in some of the ranges such as Sierra Menera, Sierra de Arcos and Sierra de San Just, making the system one of the chief mining regions in Spain since ancient times. Talaies d'Alcalà (, es, Atalayas de Alcalá), also known as Serra de les Talaies or simply Les Talaies, is a 21.5 km long mountain range in the Baix Maestrat comarca, Valencian Community, Spain. Its highest point is Talaia Grossa (635 m). ''Talaies'', the name of the range, means "watchtowers" in Catalan language, Catalan, which is derived from Arabic, and refers to ancient battles fought in the area since Iberians, Iberian times. Serra D'Irta
Serra d'Irta (, es, Sierra de Irta) is an 18.8 km long mountain range in the Baix Maestrat comarca, Valencian Community, Spain. Its highest point is Pico Campanelles (573 m). Location The Serra d'Irta stretches in a northeast-southwest direction south of the Vinaròs plain, its northern limit. It is located right by the Mediterranean coastline, rising on the eastern side of the road between Barcelona and Valencia. Its southern limit is near Alcossebre. This mountain range is covered with Maquis shrubland, including ''Juniperus oxycedrus'', ''Calicotome spinosa'', '' Pistacia lentiscus'' and '' Anthyllis cytisoides'' shrubs.
