Descendents Discography
The discography of the Descendents, a punk rock band formed in Manhattan Beach, California in 1977, consists of eight studio albums, three live albums, three compilation albums, three EPs, several singles, and four music videos. The Descendents' initial lineup of Frank Navetta (guitar), Tony Lombardo (bass guitar), and Bill Stevenson (drums) released the band's first single, "Ride the Wild" / "It's a Hectic World" in 1980. Adding singer Milo Aukerman, they next released the '' Fat EP'' in 1981 and their debut album '' Milo Goes to College'' in 1982 through SST Records. The band took a hiatus during Aukerman's collegiate studies, reconvening in 1985 for ''I Don't Want to Grow Up'' with guitarist Ray Cooper replacing Navetta. Descendents
The Descendents are an American punk rock band formed in Manhattan Beach, California, in 1977, by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson (musician), Bill Stevenson as a power pop/surf music, surf punk band. In 1979, they enlisted Stevenson's school friend Milo Aukerman as a singer, and reappeared as a melodic hardcore punk band, becoming a major player in the hardcore scene developing in Los Angeles at the time. SST Records
SST Records is an American independent record label formed in 1978 in Long Beach, California by musician Greg Ginn. The company was first founded in 1966 by Ginn at age 12 as Solid State Transmitters, a small business through which he sold electronics equipment. Ginn repurposed the company as a record label to release material by his band Black Flag. Music writer Michael Azerrad wrote, "Ginn took his label from a cash-strapped, cop-hassled store-front operation to easily the most influential and popular underground indie abelof the Eighties". Along with other independent American labels such as Twin/Tone, Touch and Go Records, Epitaph, Alternative Tentacles, and Dischord, SST helped to spearhead the nationwide network of underground bands that formed the pre-Nirvana indie-rock scene. Liveage!
''Liveage!'' is a live album by the American punk rock band the Descendents, released in 1987 through SST Records. It is the band's first live album, it was recorded July 13, 1987 at First Avenue in Minneapolis during their summer 1987 "FinALL" tour, so-called because singer Milo Aukerman was leaving the Descendents to pursue a career in biochemistry, after which the band was relaunching itself under the name All. ''Liveage!'' was followed by a second live album, '' Hallraker: Live!'' (1989), which was partly recorded at the same show but featured a completely different set of songs. The album's title derives from the band having titled some of their songs by adding the suffix "-age" to words that would not normally use it (cf. "Myage", "Tonyage", "Bikeage", and "Cameage"). Chad Price
Chad Price is the lead singer for the melodic punk band ALL and alt-country band Drag the River. As of 2018, he is the lead singer for A Vulture Wake. He joined ALL in 1993 as the band's third singer, after Dave Smalley and Scott Reynolds. He has appeared on the four most recent studio albums, as well as one live album. He is officially still a member of the band, although Scott Reynolds has been joining the band on certain live dates. In 1996, while still active with ALL, Price formed Drag The River with Jon Snodgrass. Drag The River announced a break in 2007, although they were together again by 2008. On October 29, 2009, Price released his first solo record ''Smile Sweet Face''. Scott Reynolds (singer)
Scott Reynolds is an American punk rock vocalist from Fredonia, New York, known mainly for his work with the band ALL from 1989 to 1993. He has also performed with such bands as The Pavers and Goodbye Harry. Time with ALL Reynolds was pop-punk band ALL's second lead singer, replacing Dave Smalley in 1989. He recorded and toured with the group extensively from 1989 - 1993. His songwriting contributions with All were notable; his '' Dot'' off 1993's '' Percolater'' was the group's first single not written by drummer Bill Stevenson. Reynolds left ALL in 1993 reportedly due to differences in the band regarding touring schedules. Dave Smalley
Dave Smalley is an American musician, best known as the lead singer for the hardcore punk bands DYS and Dag Nasty, and skate punk band All as well as lead singer/guitarist with Down by Law. He is known for his influence on pop punk music and his early contributions to the emo genre. He also founded a side project called the Sharpshooters, whose music is influenced by mod revival bands such as the Jam. Smalley has also produced and appeared on Canadian punk band Penelope's second album, ''Face au silence du monde'', recorded by Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studio in Arlington, Virginia. He received a bachelor's degree from Boston College and a masters in political science from California State University Los Angeles. He resides with his family in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he works as a features editor of the Weekender section of the town's newspaper, the '' Free Lance-Star''. All (stylized ALL) is an American punk rock band originally from Los Angeles, California, currently based in Fort Collins, Colorado. The group was formed by Descendents members Bill Stevenson, Karl Alvarez, and Stephen Egerton. ''All'' is the fourth album by the American punk rock band the Descendents, released in 1987 through SST Records. It was the band's first album with bassist Karl Alvarez and guitarist Stephen Egerton, who brought new songwriting ideas to the group. The album is titled after the concept of "All" invented by drummer Bill Stevenson and friend Pat McCuistion in 1980. Based on the goals of achieving "the total extent" and "to not settle for some, to always go for All", the philosophy was the subject of the one-second title track, the two-second "No, All!", and "All-O-Gistics". Stephen Patrick O'Reilly (born September 2, 1964), known professionally as Stephen Egerton, is an American guitarist, producer, mixer, and engineer, who is best known for his work playing in Descendents and All. Biography Early life Egerton was raised in Utah, United States, and explained his early relationship to music in a 2009 interview: "I was a music fanatic from the beginning of my life. Including pounding my head on the floor along with my parent's records ... which explains a lot." Egerton's first significant musical influence was the Beatles, but he also grew up listening to his parents' music collection: A lot of 50's and 60's rock and roll as a kid, and a little jazz. Karl Alvarez
Karl Matthew Alvarez (born March 10, 1964) is an American bassist and songwriter for both the Descendents and All, the band that resulted after the Descendents disbanded again in 1987. Alvarez joined the Descendents after the '' Enjoy!'' album from his previous bands The Massacre Guys and Bad Yodelers, and played on all of the All albums, and the Descendents albums ''All'', ''Everything Sucks'', ''Cool To Be You'' and ''Hypercaffium Spazzinate''. Unlike previous Descendents bassists Tony Lombardo and Doug Carrion, who both used a pick, Alvarez plays finger style bass, and he also provides backing vocals when live (and lead vocals as heard in "Cause" on the All '' Live Plus One'' album). ''Enjoy!'' is the third studio album by American punk rock band Descendents, released in 1986 through New Alliance Records and Restless Records. It was the band's final album with guitarist Ray Cooper and only album with bassist Doug Carrion, both of whom left the group after the album's first supporting tour. ''Enjoy!'' was marked by the use of toilet humor, with references to defecation and flatulence in its artwork, the title track, and "Orgofart". It also displayed a darker, more heavy metal-influenced sound in the songs "Hürtin' Crüe", "Days Are Blood", and "Orgo 51".
