Frankenburg (Palatinate)
The Frankenburg is a natural monument with the ruins of a rock castle in the county of Südliche Weinstraße in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It lies above the Modenbach valley on a rocky outcrop of the ''Frankenberg'' called the ''Frankenfelsen'' and was built to guard the road opposite Meistersel Castle. Today, all that remains of the Frankenburg are a few wall remnants and manmade traces on the rock. The rocky outcrop on the Frankenberg lies at a height of 545 metres above sea level. History The first record of the castle dates to 1327, when James of Ruppertsberg opened the castle to Count Jofried of House of Leiningen, Leiningen on the occasion of an ''Urfehde'', a sworn agreement not to feud. Modenbach
The Modenbach is a stream, just under {{convert, 30, km long, and a right-hand tributary of the Speyerbach in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Course The Modenbach rises in the Palatine Forest east of the Palatine Watershed at a height of about 460 m. Its source lies a kilometre south of the forester's lodge, ''Forsthaus Heldenstein'', on a saddle between the Steigerkopf (613.6 m) to the east and the ''Pfaffenkopf'' (566.0 m) to the west. Initially heading in a southeasterly direction, but subsequently turning eastwards, the Modenbach flows through the valley named after it towards the gently rolling vineyard country by the German Wine Route. The Ramburg is a ruined hill castle in the county of Südliche Weinstraße, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Neuscharfeneck Castle
The castle of Neuscharfeneck is a ruin and a cultural monument above Ramberg and Dernbach on the territory of an exclave of Flemlingen in the district of Südliche Weinstraße in the west German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Location The ruins are situated in the eastern part of the Palatine Forest. They lie at an elevation of on the western foothills of the Kalkofen Berg in the middle of a forest and are only accessible over forest tracks. Meistersel Castle
Meistersel Castle is a ruined castle near Ramberg on the outskirts of the Palatinate Forest in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located on a 492-metre-high hilltop that towers above the Modenbach valley near the Three Beeches pass ('' Drei Buchen'') on the road from Ramberg to Edenkoben. Meistersel Castle is one of the oldest castles in the Palatinate. Queich
The Queich is a tributary of the Rhine, which rises in the southern part of the Palatinate Forest, and flows through the Upper Rhine valley to its confluence with the Rhine in Germersheim. It is long and is one of the four major drainage systems of the Palatinate Forest along with the Speyerbach, Lauter and Schwarzbach. The Queich flows through the towns Hauenstein, Annweiler am Trifels, Siebeldingen, Landau, Offenbach an der Queich and Germersheim.
