Derek O'Brien (footballer, Born 1957)
Derek O'Brien (born 11 September 1957 in Dublin) is a retired Irish footballer who played in the League of Ireland during the 1980s. O'Brien was a right back who played for Bohemians, Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers, Athlone Town, Longford Town and Home Farm F.C. He represented Ireland at youth level and made 28 league appearances for Bohs. Derek played in all four European games during his time at Oriel Park, in ties against PSV Eindhoven and Hajduk Split. He signed for Rovers in the 1981 close season where he stayed for 2 seasons. Fran O'Brien (footballer)
Fran O'Brien (born 7 April 1955) is an Irish footballer who played during the 1970s and 1980s. He was the first player to be capped for the Republic of Ireland playing in U.S., earning a total of four caps. He now coaches for the premier club, PacNW, in Seattle WA. Player He won a league winners medal with Bohemians in 1974/75. During his career with Bohs, Fran made 62 league appearances with 1 goal and 8 appearances in European competition scoring 1 goal. In 1978, O'Brien moved along with Pat Byrne and Eddie Byrne to the Philadelphia Fury of the North American Soccer League (NASL). When the Fury moved to Montreal after the 1980 season, O'Brien went with the team and spent the next two seasons with the renamed Montreal Manic. The Football Association of Ireland Senior Challenge Cup (FAI Cup), known as the Extra.ie FAI Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a knock-out association football competition contested annually by teams from the Republic of Ireland (as well as Derry City from Northern Ireland). Mark O'Brien (born 13 May 1984 in Dublin, Ireland), is an Irish footballer who plays for Dundalk in the League of Ireland Premier Division. O'Brien is a central midfielder and comes from a footballing background as his father Derek played for Shamrock Rovers from 1981 to 1983 and his uncles Fran and Ray both played for Ireland. His younger brother Colin played alongside him at Shelbourne. Career Early years O'Brien played for Belvedere at youth level and made several appearances at under-age level for Ireland.
